International Competitions Feature Film
For Narrative Feature films from around the world. Must have a running time of 45 minutes or more, and exemplify excellence in narrative fiction filmmaking and storytelling. We accept any styles and genre that are 5 years old or less. There is no premier requirement. Project may have distribution
International Competitions Short Film
For narrative short films from around the world. Must have a running time of 44 minutes or less. We accept any styles and genre that are 5 years old or less. There is no premier requirement. Project may have distribution.

United States Competition Feature and Short Film
We are looking for narrative feature films and short films shot in and from the United States. There is no premier requirement. Project may have distribution.

DMV Local Feature and Short Film
Shot and from DMV. We will accept films that are 3 years old or less in any style and Genre. There is no premier requirement. Project may have distribution.

Documentary Short Film
Works that use non-fiction material to construct a story, an argument, and/or statement about the world we live in. The total running time is 40 minutes or less. There is no premier requirement. Project may have distribution.

Documentary Feature Film
Works that use non-fiction material to construct a story, an argument, and/or statement about the world we live in. The total running time is 40 minutes or more. There is no premier requirement. Project may have distribution.

We are dedicated to recognizing and promoting especially student filmmakers studying in the United States and Internationally. We accept any length including short, features, documentaries and music videos. Must be currently enrolled in or attending a college or film institute or University or produced during enrollment at a film school/institutions.


MISSION & OBJECTIVE
The Hot Media International Film Festival (HMIFF) is an independent competitive film festival that showcases the work of Independent filmmakers from around the Globe. HMIFF was established to celebrate and provide a global platform to the achievement of independent artists.


ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
Welcome to the 2nd Annual Hot Media International film festival (HMIFF)) 2013. HMIFF is established to celebrate and provide a platform of achievements for international cinema artists. Dedicated to building a global film community and supporting emerging filmmakers, HMIFF offers all selected artists exceptional exposure with an inclusive vibe that has won over alumni, attendees, and industry alike. HMIFF festivities are open to all, featuring some of the most talentent artist in both film and music




Competition Rules and Regulations
Screening Requirements
If your film/music video is selected for exhibition, please be advised that the Festival will require:

DVD

Please submit two (2) (NTSC) DVDs clearly labeled with entry number (if online), title, type, email address and contact name.

Shipping Information
Packaging Requirements: Ship your DVD in a bubble-pack envelope. Do not use a fiber pack. The festival is not responsible for damage to tapes incurred in shipping.

Cost & Labeling: All shipping costs to and from Virginia must be paid for by the sender.

We cannot confirm receipt of packages by telephone.

International Entries: All entries from outside the US should be sent via Air Mail, Fed Ex and UPS or by parcel post.

Return of Entries: Submission preview tapes WILL NOT be returned.

Eligibility Requirements
•Films must have been completed after February 2009.
•Submission DVD’s completed submission form, and submission fees must be postmarked by Early Deadline October 01, 2012, Regular Deadline –November 01, 2012 , late deadline, December 01, 2012 received no later than Extended Deadline January 01, 2013.

•World and US Premieres are not required.
•All films and videos in a language other than English must be subtitled in English for Festival presentation.
•Filmmakers must deliver final format (as indicated) for festival screening No exceptions will be permitted.
Festival Awards
All features, shorts and music videos are eligible for all awards and prizes will be given at the Gala and Award Ceremony.

Judging
All submitted entries are reviewed by festival organizers/panel judges and evaluated according to content, form, and technical aspects.

Panel members and the festival director will determine the finalist for screening at the festival. Entrants will be notified by email as to the status of the entry.

Filmmakers, curators, educators and critics will select festival awards recipients from the finalist screened during the festival.

Judges reserve the right not to select a winner in any given category.

ALL DECISION BY OUR JUDGES ARE FINAL

Any taxes as a result of prizes are the complete responsibility of the people/persons that submit the films.

To submit a film you must hold or share copyright of the film and its contents including music.

Terms and Conditions
By submitting your application, you grant The Hot Media International Film & Music Festival the right to utilize an excerpt from any film, music videos submitted and accepted for exhibition at the Festival for promotional purposes.

The individual or corporation submitting the film herby warrants that it is authorized to commit the film for screening, and understands and accepts these requirements and regulations.

The undersigned shall indemnify and hold harmless The Hot Media International Film & Music Festival from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney’s fees, and cost of the Court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, screening, and loss of or damage to the screening videos entered.
