Shorts
Films and videos should be of interest to lesbians, gay men, bisexual, intersex and/or transgendered people. We are seeking narrative, documentary, experimental and animated film and videos. Any film 50 minutes of length or less is considered a short film. Works must not have been already exhibited publicly or been broadcast on television in South Florida (including the Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach areas), or released for home entertainment in the United Staes prior to the festival..

MISSION & OBJECTIVE

To entertain, educate, and inspire the South Florida audience, encourage a sense of community through international and culturally diverse film, video and other media that offer historical and contemporary perspectives on the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered experience.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

MiFo - Ft. Lauderdale (formerly the Fort Lauderdale Gay & Lesbian Film Festival), is a critically acclaimed event based in Fort Lauderdale and screens films and videos in locations throughout Broward county.

Our 7th annual edition will run October 9 - October 17, 2014. Members preview screenings, educational and social events occur throughout the year.

GENERAL RULES

GENERAL SUBMISSIONS- There is a deadline of July 31, 2015.

STUDENT SUBMISSIONS- The student submission fee is minimal. All students submitting films MUST include a copy of their student ID with their submission.

Rough cuts and works-in-progress are eligible for submission, it is the filmmakers responsibility to clearly indicate at the point of submission that their work is a "work in progress".

Films and videos should be of interest to lesbians, gay men, bisexual, intersex and/or transgendered people. We are seeking narrative, documentary, experimental and animated film and videos. Works must not have been already exhibited publicly or been broadcast on television in South Florida (including the Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach areas), or released on home video in the United States prior to The festival.

MiFo only accepts on-line screener submissions. Please send Vimeo links, dropbox, secure youtube or other on-line links to joe.mglff@gmail.com.

Physical screeners that are sent to the office will not be accepted, reviewed or returned.

Once we receive your link we will check Without A Box to ensure all of the submission process has been fulfilled.

A completed entry must be included with every submission. If you are submitting more than one entry, please complete a separate submission entry for each additional title submitted.

The festival’s internal deadline for locking the program is late August 2015. All selected and invited films must be finished and available to the MiFo - Ft. Lauderdale for exhibition mid October 2014.

Works in languages other than English must be subtitled for exhibition at the Festival. English subtitles are strongly preferred for submission copies.

Final program decisions will be made on or around August 20, 2013. You will be notified of programming decisions by email.

By submitting your work to the MiFo - Ft. Lauderdale you grant a non-exclusive license to use an excerpt of your film (if selected) for up to 3 minutes for TV and other promotional purposes. Still and jpeg photographs supplied by makers may be used for promotional reasons including but not limited to the Festival program, festival email blasts, festival press publicity and Festival website. The Festival must be notified in writing of any press or photo restrictions.

In general, the Festival does not pay rental fees for submitted works.

The applicant must pay for shipment of exhibition materials to the Festival. The Festival will pay for return shipment of exhibition materials.

The Festival accepts no responsibility for loss and damage of programmed exhibition materials beyond carrier insured value during shipment to or from the Festival. The Festival takes utmost care of your exhibition materials and provides limited recompense for any damage incurred during the screenings.

The Festival does not pay additional charges for originals, masters or special prints.

Entering a film/video implies the acceptance of the Festival submission guidelines and regulations.

The individual or corporation submitting the film hereby warrants that it is authorized to commit the film for screening, and understands and accepts these requirements and regulations.

The undersigned shall indemnify and hold harmless FLGLFF from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney's fees, and costs of the court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, screening, and loss of or damage to the screening videos entered.
