Located in the town of Whitehead in Northern Ireland, Whitelights International Short Film Festival was founded in 2012. Our aim is to encourage the art of short film making, to share uniquely powerful stories, concepts and ideas from around the world and to showcase new and innovative work.

Over the course of the festival we also offer workshops with industry professionals and give film makers the opportunity to meet and share ideas.

We support filmmakers, locally and internationally, providing a platform for new talents to showcase their work. The festival also seeks to serve the community by presenting unique programs that inspire, engage and challenge a diverse audience through the art of film.

The festival was put together by several local film makers as a means of showing their work and also to encourage interest in the burgeoning movie industry that has seen Northern Ireland growing as a major venue for film making.

The Whitelights International Short Film Festival could prove a good opportunity to ensure your work is seen by leading industry exponents, many of whom now work in Northern Ireland.

Situated in the picturesque Victorian seaside town of Whitehead, which is located on the famous Antrim coast in Northern Ireland, the venue is close to the main hub of Belfast and part of the Carrickfergus area. It offers stunning scenic locations, a wonderfully preserved historic Norman castle, golf and sailing. It is also a direct route to the world renowned Causeway Coast.
