MISSION & OBJECTIVE

The Seoul International New Media Festival, aka NeMaf, established by iGong Alternative Visual Culture Factory in 2000, is the first genre-over media art festival in Asia and the largest alternative film/media festival in Korea. NeMaf would like to realize interdisciplinary art through image media. The festival has found and showcased more than 1,500 works and 800 media artists since 2000 and had a principal role as a non-governmental media art hub in Korea. NeMaf is an annual event with international competition and its 14th edition will be held from August 7 to 16, 2014.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

The Seoul International New Media Festival, aka NeMaf, established by iGong Alternative Visual Culture Factory in 2000, is the first genre-over media art festival in Asia and the largest alternative film/media festival in Korea. NeMaf would like to realize interdisciplinary art through image media. NeMaf is an annual event with international competition and its 14th edition will be held from August 7 to 16, 2014.

GENERAL RULES

The Seoul International New Media Festival, aka NeMaf, launched by iGong Alternative Visual Factory, has found and showcased more than 1,500 works and 800 media artists since 2000. Celebrating its 14th edition, NeMaf is now open for submissions seeking films, media art and exhibitions in an alternative art form.

Eligibility
All kinds of media-based works completed after January 2012, which offer an alternative, experimental and creative insight.

Category
• Film: any form of media-based works available for screening including alternative, experimental, animated films, documentary, media art and single-channel video.
• Exhibition: any form of media-based works available for exhibition including media performance, media art, net-art, sound and multi-channel video.

How to Submit
• Submit your film on Withoutbox.com and email your preview link details to nemafest@gmail.com.
NB: Your email header should read "work title_author name."

Submission Deadline
May 26, 2014

Submission Material
• Works under 50mins: the access details of a protected preview link.
• Works over 50 mins: the access detail of a protected preview link OR 3-copy of preview DVD that should be sent to the following address by May 26:

Selection and Award
Once your work is selected for NeMaf2014, it will play in the festival's competition section, Glocal Propose, and be eligible to win six prizes, worth about 10 million KRW in total as follow:
• Glocal Propose Cinema: Best Propose, Best Alternative Cinema, Korean Propose, and iGong Cinema for best emerging artist
• Glocal Propose Exhibition: New Media Art, and iGong Exhibition for best emerging artist

• Preview material must be identical to the screening copy.
• Please do not transfer any video files via email directly.
• In case you post 3 preview DVDs (only applicable for works over 50mins), the package should be labeled with "work title, author name, running time and contact details," and its value must be declared under USD20. The festival does not have any responsibility for any taxes or payment occurred.
• Your work must be subtitled in English or Korean unless it has Korean, English or no dialogues.
• We do not return any submission materials all the time.

• NeMaf2014 highly recommend an online screener produced on Vimeo.com. • Preview material must be identical to the screening copy. • Please do not transfer any video files via email directly. • In case you post 3 preview DVDs (only applicable for works over 50mins), the package should be labeled with "work title, author name, running time and contact details," and its value must be declared under USD20. The festival does not have any responsibility for any taxes or payment occurred. • Your work must be subtitled in English or Korean unless it has Korean, English or no dialogues. • We do not return any submission materials all the time. • For a media installation, an area of 16.5m² will be available during the festival, however, the setup and breakdown must be done by the artist. • Once you are informed that your work is selected, you should send a headshot of the director, 3 of film stills, a full dialogue list, and other promotional materials (optional) by one week later the notification. • For selected works, detailed shipping instruction will be sent to the print suppliers. The round trip transport and insurance costs will be covered by the NeMaf only when the shipment has been made through the official courier service designated by the festival and the return is to the origin of the print. The exception is shipments to and/or from other festivals or destinations, in which standard practice of cost sharing will apply. • In case of damage of loss of a work during the festival, the NeMaf is only responsible for the costs involved in making a new print based on the current laboratory rates for ordering a standard print. • The NeMaf reserves the right to reject entries that do not have English or Korean subtitles. • All the works selected for NeMaf 2014 could be included in the tour screening or re-screening by the festival or iGong under the agreement of the copyright holder or his/her representative.
