Best Feature
Best overall picture that meets the eligibility requirements.
Best Documentary
A factual presentation providing an in-depth analysis of a specific subject or point of view supported by evidence and informed commentary, on any subject other than art and artists.
• The film may employ partial re-enactment, stock footage, stills, animation, stop-motion or other techniques, as long as the emphasis is on fact and not on fiction.
• The film must meet the eligibility requirements.
Best Mini Series
A production that has a distinct beginning, middle, and end with a finite number of episodes, generally between one (1) and thirteen (13). The storyline is resolved at the end of broadcast.
Best Scripted Series
Any program devoted primarily to entertain, or entertain and inform.
Best Non-Scripted Series
Any program devoted primarily to entertain, or entertain and inform, with unscripted dialogue (e.g. reality show, variety show, game show, awards show, etc.).
Best Animation
Any program in which animation figures in no less than 75 percent of the program. This may include fiction or non-fiction.
Best Video Campaign
Video Campaign
A video campaign that encompasses global change and betterment.

Best Music Video
Best overall music video
GMW Best Feature
Best overall feature that involves the empowerment of women.
GMW Best Documentary

Best Web Series (Scripted)
• Submission must have at least TWO (2) produced episodes available to view at time of entry. Any submission with only ONE (1) produced episode is ineligible.
• Episodes can be of any length, but the episode you choose to screen at the festival must fall under the category for which you submitted it (Short Form- 2.5 minutes to 10 minutes, Long Form-over 10 minutes).
Best Web Series (Unscripted)
Any program devoted primarily to entertain, or entertain and inform, with unscripted dialogue (e.g. reality show, variety show, game show, awards show, etc.).
• Submission must have at least TWO (2) produced episodes available to view at time of entry. Any submission with only ONE (1) produced episode is ineligible

MISSION & OBJECTIVE
The shift Awards will be given annually to honor programming that has raised social awareness and made an impact globally.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
Along with the Florida Media Market's Connecting the Multiplatform conference, the Shift Awards is coming back for it's 2nd annual event recognizing the projects that make a "shift" in the world.

GENERAL RULES
Eligibility/ Rules & Regulations
1. Feature films (85 minutes or longer) that have been both released and screened at least once between January 2012 and September 2013.
2. Television Programs: 23- 30 minutes for half hour slot and 34-60 minutes for a full hour slot and aired between January 2012 and September 2013.
3. Organizations or individuals who do not hold copyright ownership of a program must obtain consent from the rights owner before presenting a submission.
4. Any submission that lists, in its official credits, more than one production company, is considered to be a co-production and may be submitted.
5. All production companies, including the entrant company if applicable, must be credited on the entry form, and notified. The Florida Media Market will not verify this information prior to a nomination and assumes no responsibility for incorrect or omitted information.
6. The entering organization assumes full responsibility for notifying the other production partners of the submission.
7. In the event an eligible program is submitted by more than one entrant, it is up to the entrants to decide which submission should be used. Duplicate submissions will not be refunded.
8. In the event of a protest by any of the co-production companies, the submission will be declared ineligible. Submissions will not be refunded.
9. Absolutely no pornography can be submitted.
10. Each submission must also specify the genre and target audience.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

* The Shift Awards and Conference to make available all program entries within a secure online website for screening and judging program entries, as well as for onsite program screenings during the Florida Media Market. Unless expressly prohibited, the Conference reserves the right to make copies for archival use only, with no rights whatsoever for commercial exploitation. This will be used for judging purposes. * The Conference also reserves the right to use clips from all entries submitted with the express agreement that use of same would be exclusively for Awards & Conference promotion and not more than five minutes in length. The Shift Awards will be using short clips of nominated programs (up to a maximum length of three minutes). These clips may form part of a media announcement and/or be showcased in a conference session highlighting The Shift Awards nominees and/or be webcast on the Florida Media Market website. * For nominated and winning programs, by submission you all the Florida Media Market to use short clips (up to a maximum length of three minutes) during The Shift Award Gala. The Conference also reserves the right to use these clips to promote the competition, future competitions and the winning programs on the Florida Media Market website. * By entering a program into the competition, the entrant warrants that he or she has the authority and copyrights, to enter the program and that the person submitting the entry or entries certifies that he or she has the full authority and copyrights to hereby grant the rights for clip usage as stated above and authorizes worldwide, royalty free permission for all above uses. If there are any restrictions on such use the owner or entrant must advise us no later than November 15, 2013 and undertakes to use best efforts to secure suitable clearances. *The Shift Awards & Conference may copy any program for use in non-commercial promotional exhibitions including The Shift Awards & Conference exhibition screenings and any supplemental screenings highlighting the best of the Awards & Conference. The entrant warrants that he/she has good and marketable title to the entire submitted work and has secured all music and talent rights for all Awards & Conference exhibition screenings, unless expressly prohibited. * The entrant shall indemnify, defend and hold harmless The Shift Awards & FMM Conference organizers from any and all liability, loss, costs, damage, judgment or expense including attorney fees resulting from or arising in any way out of any such claims by any third parties and/or which are based upon, or are the result of any breach of the warranties in this section.
