Miami International Science Fiction Film Festival, a 501c3 nonprofit, is a forum for inventive and imaginative filmmakers to showcase their extraordinary work.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

Now in its sixth season, Miami’s only international science fiction film festival promises to enrich the community with diverse, award-winning films and fun, immersive experience.

Our purpose is to enrich the members and local community with fantastic and educational film. Miami is a unique location which has benefited from globalization. It is critical that its citizenry is educated and informed on the advancements society is making.

There is considerable evidence all around us which illustrates that science fiction and fantasy-themed film is the pinnacle of imaginative storytelling genuinely requiring innovation. Large-budget studio films have the advantage in visual effects and sets, but the independent filmmaker can tell an even more inventive and entertaining story with limited resources. We want to see and showcase these creations and be a vehicle by which these films can reach a wider audience.

This 2019, we are planning our festival, screenplay event, and NEW Film Market.  This sixth season we are working with a few distributors to help filmmakers with the business decisions of selling and distributing their films.

Founded in 2013 by passionate supporters of science and film, Troy Parrish Bernier, Eric Sweyn, and Edward Luis Figueroa, MiSciFi has become a leader in curating independent films from 20+ countries from across the globe.

We feature numerous exciting themes from Science Fiction to Fantasy to Animation to Horror, Student films plus locally made gems from Florida. This festival features the first of its kind the “MicroDoc” a short documentary of informative science content. This exciting collection of films will be encapsulated with the local SciFi and Cosplay scene to bring the elements to life.

Every season MiSciFi brings talent and award-winning films to the community through its outreach programs and annual event (also described as a congress).

The creators of this film festival are scientists themselves, passionately driven to explore all things science, fiction, and fact. They support and inspire the local community through their own filmmaking.

The festival is held in numerous locations within Miami and Beaches. Venue details will appear in the coming weeks.

Submit your own extraordinary cinematic achievement to the Miami International Science Fiction Film Festival for a celestial experience!
