Narrative Short
The FOG Movie Fest has the largest shorts program with over 200 short films screened over the 5 day run of the festival. Filmmakers may submit a live action narrative or documentary short film, including Animation. Must be under 40 minutes.
Narrative Feature
FOG Movie Fest will present an international slate of independent films from emerging and seasoned filmmakers. We traditionally screen approximately 70 feature length narrative films.

Filmmakers may submit a live action film 40 minutes or over.
Open to anyone who wishes to enter.
Documentary
FOG Movie Fest will showcase an extensive documentary program exploring a broad range of topics, including films that focus on the arts, pop culture, the environment, human rights, social, political, historical, gay/lesbian and other subjects. We traditionally screens over 50 feature length documentaries. Filmmakers may submit a documentary film 40 minutes or over.
Bay Area Film Initiative
Films could be short, animation, AD spots, music videos, feature or documentaries of any duration.
Only San Francisco Bay Area residents can apply.
Feature Screenplay Competition
120 pages max, winners are awarded cash prizes and exposure to Hollywood producers.
Short Screenplay Competition
30 pages max, winners are awarded cash prizes and exposure to Hollywood producers.
Music Video Competition
FOG Movie Fest will showcase a unique collection of Music Videos, any genre of music that is less than 10 minutes can be submitted.

MISSION & OBJECTIVE

FOG Movie Fest will celebrate its 24th anniversary by introducing diverse independent films from around the globe to distributors and audience in San Francisco Bay Area. Scheduled to take place from 10 August - 14 August, 2016 in San Jose California, the Festival will screen an international slate of over 300 films. The festival promotes healthy competition and the selected films will compete for a series of Jury Honors and Audience Awards.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

FOG Movie Fest is held every August in conjunction with FIA Parade which draws overall crowd of over 100000 people from San Francisco Bay Area since 1992. The focus will be on Independent cinema from across the globe including red carpet premieres, gala celebrations, filmmaker networking receptions, musical performances, fashion shows and Distribution opportunities .

Special Programs planned for 2016 FOG Movie Fest include the following: Latino Film Night, Chinese Film Night, Russian Film Night, European Film Night, African American Film Night, and South Asian Film Night.

FOG Movie Fest features the best of world cinema with a gateway to Silicon Valley that fosters creative and technical talent. By bringing the best of world cinema to Silicon Valley, FOG Movie Fest presents the region and the film industry with a singular platform that empowers creative talent in most advanced technical hub among premier wealth creators.

GENERAL RULES

24th Annual FOG Movie Fest - 10 August - 14 August, 2016

All submitted films must comply with the Submissions Guidelines including deadlines, exhibition format, entry material, etc. Please check our website for further details (www.fogsv.org)

- Your film will be watched, in its entirety, by at least 5 people so we suggest that you submit your film as early as possible! Once we are open for submissions getting your film into consideration saves you money and gives us more time to look at it!
NO LATE SUBMISSIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED.

- Entry fees should be paid by credit card only and are non-refundable. Fees for foreign entries should be paid by credit card in U.S. dollars.

- Entrants are responsible for obtaining any necessary licenses, royalties, release forms, clearances, permits necessary to present their work. San Francisco Global Movie Fest is not responsible for any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, or royalty infringement related to the work.

- Every precaution will be taken to safeguard all materials sent to the Festival but the Festival is not responsible for damage to submitted materials incurred by shipping to or from the Festival.

- Films submitted must be available for EXHIBITION as:
Digital Cinema Package (DCP) - 24 Frames per second
or
DVD - NTSC

- Films submitted must be available in English or in the original language with English subtitles. Accepted films must be available in the designated exhibition formats.

- Films must not screen in the U.S. in theaters, air on U.S. television, or be available to US consumers in stores or via the internet before August 16, 2015.

- The number(s), date(s), time(s), and locations of the screenings of films are subject to the discretion of the San Francisco Global Movie Fest.

- The print supplier will be responsible for the cost of shipment to SFGMF. The SFGMF will return the print postage prepaid to the supplier or to the next destination as indicated by the supplier (Features only) . Films on DVD will not be returned with the exception of a prepaid postage and self-addressed envelope.

- The SFGMF takes the utmost care in the handling of your films. The SFGMF does not pay additional charges for originals, masters, or special prints.

Notification will be provided via WAB. Please do not call the Festival office. All correspondence will be done through email ONLY to the original submitter.
