MISSION & OBJECTIVE
The Greek Australian Short Film Festival supports filmmakers worldwide who may be Greek or who have a Greek heritage, covering all genres, including animation.

The Greek Australian Short Film Festival screens as part of the Greek Film Festival in Australia, running in Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane and for the first time this year in Perth.


ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
The Greek Australian Short Film Festival began five years ago and first showed local Greek Australian films in a Bar in Downtown Melbourne, Australia. Since then it has grown to be incorporated as part of the Greek Film Festival in Australia and screens across various states.

Last year it encountered phenomenal success with patrons all over Australia attending the screenings. This year, The Greek Australian Short Film Festival is extending the invitation to International Filmmakers who are Greek or of Greek descent to be given the opportunity to show their films. Films that are also thematically of a Greek nature will also be considered There will be an International and a National section with prizes awarded in a number of categories.

Feature and documentary filmmakers are invited to submit their films.

GENERAL RULES
Eligible films include works by Greek Filmmakers and Filmmakers of Greek descent worldwide. Also eligible are films about Greece, Greek stories, Greek and Cypriot productions or co-productions as well as films by emerging Australian and Greek-Australian filmmakers with a Greek theme.

Films with non-English dialogue must have English subtitles.

The submissions must be in by the due date. Films will not be accepted after the due date. Films must have been made in the past five years. The films must not be longer than 20 minutes in duration including credits. The decisions of the judges in awarding the prizes will be final and no discussion can be entered into.

Films can be used by the Festival for a twelve month period following the festival for the purpose of not for profit events, after consultation with the rights holder.
