MISSION & OBJECTIVE
The Austin Asian American Film Festival (AAAFF) showcases the best in Asian and Asian American Cinema in order to celebrate our communities, entertain and enlighten the public, and support the creative talents of Asian and Asian American artists.
ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
The Austin Asian American Film Festival is back and ready for another successful year!
Our unique festival is committed to bringing the best in Asian and Asian American cinema to the vibrant city of Austin. Our festival is well attended and is supported by prominent cultural organizations and local businesses in one of the top cities for film in the US.
This November we are proud to present the 2016 Austin Asian American Film Festival on November 10th to November 13th. This four day event will be jam packed with exciting panels, discussions and screenings.
For this event we want YOU! We are seeking innovative and passionate filmmakers from around the globe. We have a prestigious programming team on hand to review your submissions.
Submissions will be accepted in the following categories:
* Narrative Feature
* Narrative Short
* Documentary Feature
* Documentary Short
Jury Award winners in the Narrative Short and Documentary Short categories will be awarded a cash prize of $250.
The early submission deadline is April 30, 2016. The cost is $25 per Feature and $20 per Short (w/ discounted student fees).
The final submission deadline is June 30, 2016. The cost is $35 per feature and $25 per Short (w/ discounted student fees).

The Austin Asian American Film Festival seeks to screen films that meet any of the following criteria:
-Films written, directed, and/or produced by Asian or Asian-American filmmakers, made inside or outside the United States
-Films featuring Asian or Asian-American actors or subjects
-Films that engage with the lives and experiences of Asian or Asian-American people and communities, inside or outside Asia.
For these purposes, Asia should be defined broadly-- including the countries of East Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, Central Asia, and Western Asia. Our 2015 festival included work from the United States, China, Taiwan, Indonesia, India, Korea, The Philippines, Japan, Iran, and other countries and cultures.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
The Austin Asian American Film Festival will be held from November 10th to November 13th. All final works must be completed and shipped at least one month prior to the screening date. This contract is binding and you will be held responsible for the information in your submission.
