HARD-TO-GET INFO • An event by this name may exist, but we have not been able to find even basic information about it. The listing remains available for your reference.

Short Fiction
Dream the impossible. Then film it. The short film should present an original fictitious story of any genre. Shortlists will be judged on storyline, sound & image quality and performance believability.
Short Documentary
Sometimes, the most unbelievable stories are the ones you simply can’t make up. Your short film documentary should present a factual report on a chosen subject or idea. Shortlists will be judged on storyline, sound & image quality and performance believability.
Short Animation
In the immortal words of a certain delusional space ranger: To infinity. And beyond! The short film should tell a story by giving life to inanimate objects or character designs. Shortlists will be judged on storyline, sound & image quality and aesthetic innovation.
Short Screenplay
It all starts here. As any filmmaker knows, a good script is the backbone of a good film. In this category, we’re looking for a screenplay that tells an original story (not based upon previously published material). Shortlists will be judged on storyline, structure, characters and style.

We hope to inspire, recognize and reward the up-and-coming filmmakers of tomorrow, showcasing students’ short films and screenplays from around the world, and providing a much-needed hub for students to network with peers and established industry professionals.

Original Narrative (ON) Student Short Film Festival is organized by the Mohammed Bin Rashid School for Communication at the American University in Dubai. Its 5th edition will take place from 27 to 29 October 2018.

It’s a 3-day event, starting with an opening night at AUD’s prestigious auditorium, followed by two days of screenings and workshops. Engaging, tailored workshops from top industry professionals, from web content creation to cinematography and screenwriting, that are all fully attended.
Over the past 4 years, we have received hundreds of applications from over 50 different countries and we cannot wait to receive yours!
