Animated films can be of any length - both short (40 minutes. or less) or feature length (no less than 60 minutes) films are accepted.
We accept Documentary films of all lengths. A Documentary short is considered 40 minutes or under and a Documentary feature is over 60 minutes with a maximum of 110 minutes.
Foreign Film
Any film made OUTSIDE OF THE U.S., of any genre may submit to this category.

Films of all lengths (Feature and Short) for this category and a broad range of genres/categories are accepted for this category, including Animation, Documentary, Narrative Fiction, Student, etc.


The Temecula Valley International Film & Music Festival's mission is to enrich the human spirit through film and music by nurturing, supporting and showcasing independent, emerging film and music talent.

Filmmakers and Musici Artists from across America and around the globe come to Temecula every September since 1995 to participate and enjoy in the celebration of the two most influential, most enduring, most entertaining art forms and commerce of: FILM AND MUSIC.

Through screenings and concerts and other associated events, the festival aims to present a wide spectrum of contemporary filmmaking (feature films, short films, documentaries, animation, foreign films, student films) and music (rock to pop, rhythm and blues to jazz, country to classic, solo artists to ensembles).

The 2014 Temecula Valley International Film & Music Festival is produced in partnership with the Deaf West Theatre, LLC. Deaf West Theatre is a 501-c-3 non profit organization.


Entering its 18th year, the Temecula Valley International Film & Music Festival is scheduled to occur, September 17-21, 2014.

The festival has evolved from a small grassroots affair to a world class film and music event showcasing and honoring significant artists --Emerging and established, known and unknown, independent and mainstream filmmakers and musicians from across America and around the globe gather in Temecula every September to celebrate the art of film and music.

Located between Los Angeles and San Diego in the gorgeous wine and equestrian community of Temecula, the festival has had the luxury of consistent participation and attendance by film and music industry professionals. Lifetime/Career Achievement Award honorees and industry guests include David Foster, Carl Reiner, Kenny Loggins, Leonard Maltin, Peter Bogdanovich, Cybill Shepherd. With the introduction of the MusicFest component in 2001, the festival, to the delight of its participants and audience has become a great networking opportunity venue for both filmmakers and unsigned, original music artists who possibly could help each others' projects

This festival is a competitive festival. All selected films (except those that have had prior theatrical screenings or cable/TV broadcasts or who choose to opt out) are automatically eligible for Competition. Winners are determined by a Film Jury and by Audience choice.

Ranked as one of the 'Best Kept Secret Film Festivals' in the US (by Chris Gore's Ultimate Film Festival Survival Guide, 2nd Edition),TVIFF continues to always improve and create activities to make its guests' stay in Temecula a memorable experience. TVIFF's calendar of events include a fabulous mixture of premieres, film showcases, Q&A sessions, wine tastings, hot air ballooning, hot/cool rhythms of great bands at the MusicFest and hip/elegant black tie awards gala, master classes, workshops, etc.

TVIFF encourages all selected films to have active participation with the presence of at least one member of the film's production staff and/or cast present, from our spectacular mini "Welcome Film/Music Festival participants" parade (in fabulous exotic vintage cars) on Opening Night, the screenings, various special events and most especially, to our equally spectacular star-studded Closing Night Awards Gala presentation.

The Temecula Valley International Film & Music Festival (TVIFF) is a competitive Festival. Winners are determined by a Film Jury and by Audience Choice.

The festival is open to US and Foreign films in five categories: Narrative Features, Documentaries, Shorts, Animation and Student films.

To be eligible, a film entry must have been completed in 2012, 2013 or 2014. All film entries must be submitted on DVD (NTSC) to be considered for selection. Submission DVD's will not be returned. DEADLINE: June 30, 2014. (NO PAL FORMATS ACCEPTED)
Please note: Early Bird Deadline is May 30, 2014. Late Deadline is July 10, 2014 and WAB Extended Deadline is July 20, 2014.

All entry fees are non refundable.
Early Bird entries are $25 (students, $15). Regular entries are $30 (students, $20). Late entries, $35 (students, $25). WAB Extended entries, $40 (Students, $35).


The Festival reserves the right to complete any information not supplied by the filmmaker from whatever source available and will not be responsible if incorrect information is entered.

Permission for to use an excerpt from any accepted film (not exceeding 2 minutes), for promotional purposes is considered granted unless otherwise noted. Please send black & white or color stills (stills must be sent on disk, digital download service (i.e. yousendit, etc.) or sent by email (jpegs) to festival@tviff.com.

Entries must be submitted with the entry fees. Entries MUST include a synopsis, complete cast/crew list, complete production technical details (i.e. running time, shooting and screening format). Acceptance notices will be sent via e-mail by Aug. 10, 2014.

All selected films (except for those that have had prior theatrical screenings or cable/TV broadcast or those who request to be screened out of competition) are automatically eligible for Competition. Winners are determined by a Film Jury and by Audience Choice.

It is important for a selected film to have a presence at the festival. TVIFF encourages all selected films to have at least one member of the film's production staff / and or cast, present, for the screenings and special events of the festival. All filmmaker attendees are formally introduced/acknowledged during our red carpet Opening Night festivities and at the spectacular, star-studded Closing Night Black Tie Awards Gala.

We encourage all filmmakers to introduce their own films, cast/crew, if any. Q&A, time permitting, follows right after screening of the film.

Each selected film is guaranteed two screenings.

Each selected film is given 2 ALL Access Passes -which will give entry to all screenings, Opening Night festivities, Musicfest performances, workshops, TVIFF Marketplace, all afterparties/special receptions and the Awards Gala. Any extra member or guest of the film wanting access to the Awards Gala is given a 50% discount.

For Opening Night Festivities, all filmmakers who RSVP on time are assigned a vintage car for the 'Opening Night Welcome Vintage Car Parade."

All filmmaker attendees are formally introduced during the red carpet walk and prior to the screening of the Opening Night Film.

For out of state, or international filmmaker participant, we might be able to help with accommodations. It is not a guarantee but we do have an "Adopt a Filmmaker' program in place. It is on a first come, first served basis.

Our filmmaker liaison will work with you to make your stay an enjoyable one. Temecula is centrally located 2 hours from Los Angeles Airport, 1 1/2 hours from Orange County Airport, 50 minutes from San Diego Airport, and about 45 minutes from Ontario airport.

Non-English language films must have English subtitles or be dubbed in English..

All entry fees are non-refundable. Entries must be submitted with the entry fee and entry form which includes a plot synopsis, cast and crew list, basic technical details and complete contact information. You may submit more than one entry. However separate entry form and entry fee are required for each title.

Payment is accepted only in U.S. dollars, by check (payable to Temecula Valley Int’l Film & Music Festival), money order, Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. Do not send cash.

Acceptance notices will be sent via e-mail by Aug. 10, 2014. If selected, screening formats DCP and/or BluRay must be in TVIFF office, Sept. 1, 2014, clearly labeled with return shipping information or contact address, email and phone. If selected, you will also be asked to send press kits (digital, ok) ) which include B&W or color stills from the film, press materials, video trailer (if available) or MPEG video clips for web site inclusion.

Film entries and other film materials will be handled with utmost care, but neither TVIFF organizers nor supporting organizations can assume responsibility for damage or loss of the film entry and other film materials while en route or otherwise during the course of the Festival’s possession of the film.

Film producers / distributors are responsible for shipment of films to TVIFF. TVIFF will pay for one – way return shipment of films. TVIFF will not pay for international freight of US based films.

All film entries selected for the Festival grant TVIFF the rights to use footage, stills, titles and information from the film for promotional purposes. The act of submitting this form constitutes acceptance without reservation of all rules of TVIFF.
