MISSION & OBJECTIVE
We will advance comedy in the Memphis area by nurturing creators and performers of comedy, curating talent from in and outside the city, developing alliances with venues, and producing events to increase the awareness of Memphis comedy, culminating with the annual Memphis Comedy Festival.
ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
The Memphis Comedy Festival is an annual weekend festival featuring stand-up comedy, films, live podcasts, improv, variety shows, and much more. The festival began in 2012 and has since grown into a favorite destination for up and coming comedians.
Eric Huber (Film Coordinator); Josh McLane (Venue Coordinator); Nathan Hiller (Festival Director)
Films previously submitted to Memphis Comedy Festival will not be reconsidered.
Only secure online screeners are accepted this year.
Films accepted to screen at the festival will be scheduled at the sole discretion of Memphis Comedy Festival. Instructional films, industrials, promotional videos, music videos, concert films and sponsored works-for-hire are generally not appropriate for submission. Submissions must be independently produced artistic content; filmmakers must have final creative control over their work.
Filmmakers will be notified of their selection status on February 20, 2017. Exhibition materials for selected films must be available by March 02, 2017 for inclusion in the festival.
Memphis Comedy Festival does not pay screening fees for submitted work.
Entry fees are nonrefundable.
Screeners of accepted films may be archived in the Memphis Comedy Festival library, and made available for Memphis Comedy Festival members to borrow at no charge. Filmmakers may opt out of this and pull their film from the library at any time.
Memphis Comedy Festival may deny acceptance of any film at its sole discretion, or waive rules for any submission it deems appropriate for the festival. If accepted, the screening schedule (including venue, time and number of screenings) is at the sole discretion of Memphis Comedy Festival.
The entrant is responsible for the cost of shipping the submission and exhibition materials to Memphis Comedy Festival. Films being sent from outside the United States must be sent "free domicile" to the Memphis Comedy Festival office, with all transportation charges, duties and taxes prepaid by shipper.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
The entrant guarantees that they have legal right to submit their film to the 2017 Memphis Comedy Festival and have obtained all necessary rights and clearances to have it publicly screened during the festival dates.
Submission of the film confirms that the Memphis Comedy Festival has permission to exhibit the work at the 2017 festival, should it be accepted, and that the entrant understands that no screening fees or other reimbursement is possible.
Every precaution will be exercised in handling preview and exhibition materials for submitted films, but the entrant agrees to hold the festival, its organizers, employees, volunteers, sponsors, and partnering organizations harmless for damage to or loss of materials submitted.
