MISSION & OBJECTIVE
ASIFA-South is a non-profit association that seeks to
promote the art form of animation through screenings,
professional networking, education, research, and
community outreach. We constantly strive to recruit
fellow lovers of the craft to share knowledge, passion,
and create social awareness. Additionally, as artists we
believe that we have both the power and moral
obligation to evoke a positive cultural change by using
the medium to help the less fortunate, support diversity
& inclusion, and nurture the next generation.
ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
This year marks the 23rd anniversary of ASIFA-South (formerly ASIFA-Atlanta). Starting out as a showcase, over the past 16 years the Southern Spotlight Showcase (previously known as RYO showcase) has expanded into a two-day long festival and conference. Now in it's second year, ASACF has become a tradition of ASIFA-South.
If you are an independent animator, student, or professional working on a side project, this event is for you! Selected entries offer diverse perspectives in the form of 2-D, Stop Motion, 3-D, and hybrid-mixes to deliver inspiring and thought provoking films. This conference and festival will serve to highlight the magic of animation and its power to bring forth humor, imagination and art.
Selected entries from any program block will also be considered for our International Animation Day, which partner chapters all over the world will share.
The four program blocks are as follows:
Southern Spotlight Showcase: A showcase filled with animated shorts from students, independent animators and professionals in the south US. Only shorts made in the South US region qualifies for this program. Includes Maryland.
Family Friendly Block: These are entries that can be enjoyed by families and kids of a young age.
International Block: For our animator friends across borders, oceans, continents, enter your shorts for this block.
Animated Feature: The most ambitious of all animated projects, this category is dedicated to films of an hour or more in run-time.
This two-day animation conference and festival will also include panels by professional animators in the local industry. There will also be an Awards ceremony at the last day of the conference.
