MISSION & OBJECTIVE
The goal of the RESOBOX Japanese Short Films Showing is to showcase the independent side of Japanese filmmaking and Japanese culture. We aim to showcase short films that exhibit and express visions that are not typically given an opportunity by mainstream outlets.
ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
2016 will be the first year of the The RESOBOX Japanese Short Films Showing. We are looking for short films of all genre to exhibit alternative visions of Japanese filmmaking and Japanese culture.

1. To qualify as “Japanese,” the film should include at least one of the following:
-Filmed/Made in Japan
-Directed by a director from Japan, or with Japanese heritage
-Written by a screenwriter from Japan, or with Japanese heritage
-Include main actors/characters from Japan, or with Japanese heritage
-Based on a Japanese story
-About Japanese culture and/or history
-Other main connections or themes related to Japan
2. The film may be any genre, including (but not limited to): fictional narrative (drama, comedy, horror, action, etc); documentary; animation; experimental; etc.
3. The film can be in any language, but non-English films must include English subtitles.
4. The film length should not exceed 30 minutes in .mov, .avi, or .mp4 formats.
5. In order to submit a film, please mail or bring by hand, the file in a DVD, SD Card or USB flash drive to the address below:

A file uploaded to a download sharing website will also be accepted (Google drive, dropbox, etc.) but please do not send us the file directly through e-mail. Instead, please send your download link to firstname.lastname@example.org.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
If your work is selected, you must fulfill the following requirements by the date(s) designated by the Festival:
You must execute a release agreement wherein you (i) accept responsibility for obtaining any and all clearances necessary to exhibit your film at RESOBOX Japanese Short Films 2016; (ii) warrant that you have the rights necessary to exhibit your film at RESOBOX Japanese Short Films 2016; and (iii) indemnify and hold harmless RESOBOX, LLC, its parent company, its affiliates, and subsidiaries and any of their respective directors, officers, employees, and representatives against any claim arising out of exhibition of your film at RESOBOX Japanese Short Films 2016.
You must deliver to the address(es) designated by the Festival one (1) exhibition copy (technical specifications must be confirmed by the Festival in advance) of the invited work. We recommend you ship all exhibition copies via courier in order to permit the tracking of your film once it leaves your hands, or email a link where the film can be downloaded.
The required exhibition formats and delivery date deadlines will be confirmed by the RESOBOX after invitations have been extended and confirmed. Please check in with the RESOBOX staff before creating your Festival exhibition copy or copies to ensure the format and technical specifications are correct.
The Festival will not arrange for(and cover the cost of) return shipping of your exhibition copy(copies) after the conclusion of RESOBOX Japanese Short Films 2016.
You must provide at least one (1) DVD copy or downloadable link of the final, completed film for RESOBOX Japanese Short Films 2016 archives and internal purposes. Portions of the film, in part or in whole, may be used for promotional purposes by RESOBOX.
