We are a film festival that looks to show films of an abstract, surreal and experimental nature. Pieces that are thought provoking and visually strong that break the norm, that don't respect the traditional narrative way of story telling, whether that be video art, experimental film or documentary or animation. We want to have work that is strong and original in nature.

This is our fifth festival and our biggest yet as we have a good venue and we are starting to draw the crowds around London.
The Hackney Attic is a great venue for showing films and they are helping publicise the event for the third time. The last event was great and with the English Arts Council involved we should draw even more attention than last time.

Underneath the Floorboards is an experimental film festival held in London buzzing artistic area of Hackney, in the prestigious Hackney Attic. Everything that is non-linear and not of a traditional narrative sense will be considered.

No bias, no prejudice if you didn't study in the most prestigious art schools, we don't care, we just want to see work that is of an artistic nature and that creates an interesting language of its own.

We are creating a venue and regular festival for people to show video art and experimental films around the world.

Films must be short films no more than 40 minutes max but we would prefer shorter films ideally. Must be experimental films in nature or in theme or video art.
