Short Films
We're open to any genre that's no longer than 30 minutes. We want films that make a strong connection - films that audiences will remember and have to see again. And again. Edgy, original, comedy, tragedy, animation, music videos, docs, experimental and everything in between! Give us a shot to give you a shot at building your film community!! The Winner of Best in Festival will be awarded $500.
Short Screenplay
The winning screenplay will be for a live action, narrative fiction film NO LONGER than 30 minutes. It will be perfectly formatted and have a strong story. Any genre is accepted. Please include the title, genre and logline on the first page. Please make sure this is original material - not adapted from anything that you don't own the rights to.

The Winning Screenplay will receive a reading and production consultation by HNYS.

MISSION & OBJECTIVE

Hudson NY Shorts is a mixed genre short film festival with entries from local and global filmmakers. Each film program will include both narrative and documentary shorts. Comedy, Urban, LGBTQQI, Music Videos, Drama, Animation, Experimental and other genres will be selected to create two eclectic 70-minute mixes that will make audiences think, feel and expand. The Winner of Best in Festival will be awarded $500.

The dual emphasis is on “discovering” great talent with the purpose of promoting it to both the entertainment industry as well as showcasing the works of seasoned professionals.

This year we are accepting short screenplays for live action, narrative fiction films NO LONGER than 15 pages (minutes) with two locations and 2-4 characters. Any genre will be considered. No special effects.

This festival is about elevating the art of the short film! It's for people who love making, screening and mixing it up over short films.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

This is Hudson NY Shorts third year! Each year, in addition to compiling an eclectic mix of films, we will choose and do a reading of the winning screenplay. Filmmakers can expect to join a community when they enter the festival. The curator, Bonnie O'Neill, is a filmmaker and professor from San Francisco who has dedicated her life to the art of film. Her goal is not just to introduce great short films to amazing audiences, but to bring together filmmakers from creative pockets around the world.

Our festival is at the progressive venue, Time and Space Limited. TSL has been a creative fixture in Hudson since 1991. It is a cinephile's dream come true dedicated to the exploration of film. It's also a place where artists perform, display and expand into new areas. It's where filmmakers will make connections. It draws an interesting mix in the audience. We have some fabulous judges including Ken Schretzmann who was the editor of classic animation films such as The Lorax, Toy Story 3 and The Secret Life of Pets.
Hop into this festival and see what opportunities present themselves!!

Go to www.HudsonNYShorts.com to see more about the festival, TSL and the evolving artistic hub of Hudson!!! Go ahead, do it. You won't be disappointed.
