Section 1 – Short Films
Section 1 includes all sort of short fictional films.
Directorial Debut
For the first time film by a filmmaker.

Screenplay
Screenplays: it is possible to submit both short and long screenplays, for short films or feature films. Every original screenplay for short films must not be longer than 30 pages, whereas screenplays for feature films must be longer than 30 pages. Screenplays must be in English or in Italian.

MISSION & OBJECTIVE

The Association Rive Gauche – Festival, Florence, Italy, is pleased to announce the 6th edition of its International Cinema Contest. The Festival aims at promoting the collaboration and competition of young directors and promotion and distribution of audio-visual works. The Festival also wants to encourage facilitate directors in their contacts with producers, distributors, actors who will be guests of the event.

It’s possible to submit works for the following sections:
a - Short film in competition
b - Directorial debuts
c - Innovative and experimental film
d - Cartoons and films for young people and schools
e – Screenplays
Applicants must specify the submission section.

Dates of the Festival
The 6th Firenze FilmCorti Festival will be held in Florence, at Le Murate Progetti Arte Contemporanea in Piazza Le Murate, according to the following schedule:
Section a (Short film in competition) and Section B (Directorial Debuts) May 30 and31 and June 1 and 2.
Section c (Innovative and Experimental film), Section d (Cartoons and films for young audience and schools), Section e (Screenplays): October 14 and 15.

Requirements:
Film: All the submitted film should not be longer than 40 minutes, included film credits.
Cartoons and films for young people and schools: the maximum duration for every film is 20 minutes, including the final credits. All the films are accepted in any language, but they must be subtitled in Italian or in English.
Screenplays: it is possible to submit both short and long screenplays, for short films or feature films. Every original screenplay for short films must not be longer than 30 pages, whereas screenplays for feature films must be longer than 30 pages. Screenplays must be in English or in Italian.

All the material submitted will not be returned. It will be held in the archive of the Association, which will be responsible for the preservation of the material, and the processing of the personal data of the applicants. By signing up for the Festival, the applicant agrees that his/her films will be released and screened on the four days of the Festival, or on the following side or satellite events of the 6th Firenze FilmCorti Festival. Trailers or other material (with the exclusion for the whole film) may be published or released for disclosure and advertising purposes on the Rive Gauche-Film and Critique blog (https://rivegauche-filmecritica.com ), on the Festival website (https://firenzefilmcortifestival.com ) and on the Association Newtwork, Twitter, Google+, Instagram and Linkedin pages.
Every filmmaker can write something about his work or send phots or trailer for the “Author corner” to Festival Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/cinema.rivegauche) .

Official selection. The candidates selected by the Jury for the Official Selection for all the sections will be notified from the 1st to the 10th of May 2018, through mail or on the Blog (http://rivegauche-filmecritica.com), or on the Festival website ((https://firenzefilmcortifestival.com ), or on Rive Gauche-Festival Network. The travel costs for attending the four days of the Official Selection, as well as the accommodation and living expenses, will not be refunded.

Prizes: The following prizes will be awarded:
The award for best Short film in competition (Section a) is € 500 voucher for cinema materials. The award for the winners of sections b, c and d is a personalised plate and the Festival’s gold-plated medal. Other prizes for section “a” consisting in a personalised plate are for:
Best Director
Best Production
Best Screenplay
Best Actress
Best Actor
Best Soundtrack
Best Photography
Best Documentary
Best editing
Critic’s award
Audience award.
The award for the winners of sections b, c and d is a personalised plate and the Festival’s gold-plated medal. Second and third classified will be awarded with a personalised plate.
The award for best screenplay (section e) , and for those that came second and third, will be the InkTip Package (it means the screenplay will be sent to the film production companies) and a personalised plate. The best screenplay in Italian for a feature film will win the Elena Bertoldi special prize.
All participants will receive a parchment attesting their contribution.

The opinion of the Jury, made up by experts, will be unquestionable.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Applicants should send their work together with their contact details (adress, phone, cell, email) and along with the short film abstract and curriculum vitae and their photos.
Applicants will be shortlisted by the juries for the final event. Travel and accommodation and other expenses will be met by shortlisted applicants.
The finalists works will be presented during the course the final events. The final schedule will be advised closer to the time.  The prize giving will take place on the evening of June 2.
