MISSION & OBJECTIVE
Busan International Film Festival endeavors to encourage the appreciation and promotion of the art of cinema. The Festival aims to present a quality showcase of films produced around the world, especially with focus on introducing new films and discovering new talents from Asia.
ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
Since its inception in 1996, Busan International Film Festival has grown fast to become the largest film festivity in Asia. The Festival has established its role as a strong supporter of the film industry through its various programs such as the Asian Film Market, Asian Project Market, Asian Cinema Fund, Asian Film Academy and Asian Cinema Forum. The 19th edition of the Busan International Film Festival will be held from 2 to 11 October, 2014.
Busan International Film Festival is accredited by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF) and abides by its regulations.
Submission deadlines must be strictly respected. The submission must be completely registered online, and the DVD screener must be received or the Secure Online Screener must be provided BY THE DEADLINE. (POSTMARKS NOT ACCEPTED)
TERMS AND CONDITIONS

The Festival accepts features, short films, documentaries and animation. The film must not be broadcasted on TV or available on the Internet prior to the Festival.
The film must have been completed no earlier than October 2013 and should be completed no later than September 2014. Films previously submitted to the Festival but not selected will not be reconsidered.
The Festival program gives priority to World or International premieres. World premieres are films screened for the first time to any audience, including country of origin. International premieres are films screened for the first time to an audience outside country of origin.
There is no entry fee for submission to the Festival.
Deadline for short films (duration less than 60 min) is June 30, and deadline for features (duration 60 min or more) is July 31. Submission will be considered complete only when the required film information is registered online and the screener is delivered to the Festival by the deadline.
The Festival accepts either DVD screener or Withoutabox Secure Online Screener for selection consideration. Films in any language other than Korean or English must be provided with English subtitles.
The DVD should be clearly labeled with the 1) Film Title 2) Director’s Name 3) Duration 4) Contact Information 5) Tracking Number.
In case the film is submitted by using Withoutabox, the Festival can also consider the submission with the Secure Online Screener without receiving a separate DVD screener.
SENDING THE DVD SCREENER
All costs are to be prepaid by the sender, and the Festival will not assume responsibility for any charges. To ensure safe and timely shipment, mark the parcel with “NO COMMERCIAL VALUE - FOR CULTURAL PURPOSES ONLY”. The DVD screeners will not be returned, and professionally destroyed after the conclusion of each edition of the Festival.
Should the film be selected, it must be available in either DCP(D-Cinema), 35mm, HD, or (Digi)Beta by September 2014. DCP is the most preferred, and the rest of the available formats may be restricted to certain screening venues and time-slots due to different facilities in venues.
No other formats including DVD and Blu-ray are compatible.
The Festival will notify the selection results to the filmmakers by August 31. The Festival reserves the right to decide the section in which the selected film will participate. The Festival does not provide individual explanation on the non-selection of a film.
