Screenplay Submission
Thank you for your interest in submitting your screenplay to the 2013 Screamfest Horror Film Festival. The 2013 screenplay competition is open for all writers from around the world. We will accept submissions until May 15, 2013.

Screamfest was formed to give talented writers and directors in the genre a platform to further their careers.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
The Screamfest Horror Film Festival is the largest horror film festival in the United States. Some of the largest horror online publications have called it the "Sundance of Horror." This year’s Screamfest will be held at a prestigious Los Angeles area theater. Screamfest premieres and showcases new work from American and international independent horror filmmakers. Film entries are accepted in the categories of Best Feature, Directing, Cinematography, Editing, Special Effects and Musical Score. In addition, there are special categories for Best Animation, Best Short, Best Documentary and Best Student Film.

The festival has hosted many famous filmmakers as guests, including Sam Raimi, Williiam Friedkin, Wes Craven, Eli Roth, James Wan, Zack Snyder, David Slade, Stan Winston, Sean Cunningham, Tim Sullivan and even John Landis. Screamfest has also introduced some major horror films onto the world, including 30 Days Of Night, A Tale of Two Sisters, Ju-On, Paranormal Activity, Storm Warning, Room 205, Alone, David Arquette's The Tripper, Automaton Transfusion, Wolf Creek, Boo!, Curandero, Feast, Three... Extremes, Sigaw, 2001 Maniacs, Cube: Zero, and many more.

SCREAMFEST accepts all films completed after January 1, 2013. The deadline for entry is August 1, 2014. SCREAMFEST will be held in Los Angeles from October 10 to October 19, 2014.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

ERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR ENTRY SUBMISSION All film submissions must be postmarked by August 1, 2014. All submissions must be complete, with all of the items on the checklist order completed to be considered for the submission. All submissions received after August 30, 2014 will be considered for next year's festival. Notification of acceptance into the 2014 film festival will occur no later than September 15, 2014. If accepted, a screening print must arrive at Screamfest's office not later than October 1, 2014. Entry selection is made from online screeners or DVD. All DVD screeners must be clearly labeled. These screeners will become the property of Screamfest unless a self-address, self-stamped package is provided with original submission. All entries selected into Screamfest grant Screamfest the right to use any footgage from the screener, and all submitted publicity photos and any other materials sent to us pertaining to this entry for Screamfest's promotional purposes, without limitations. Complete press kit for films will be requested only after acceptance.All prints must be picked up after the screening and signed for by the filmmaker. Eligibility - We will accept films completed after January 2013. We will accept films that have previously screened in other festivals. However, we will not screen films that are in other genre festivals screened prior to Screamfest during the same month as the festival as it is our goal to premiere new films. Entry fees are non-refundable, and may be paid in the form of Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, Discover, check or money order paid in US dollars, only through a US affiliated bank. A $2.00 processing fee will be added to all credit card payments. SCRIPTS Scripts must be bound and formatted correctly. Feature film script length should be at least 80 pages and not over 130. Final deadline for scripts is June 15, 2014. All scripts must be accompanied with a synopsis. PARTICIPANT AGREEMENT I, the undersigned, represent and warrant that I have full legal right and authority to submit the heretofore mentioned film/video project for consideration by Screamfest, and that all necessary consents, licensing and approvals have been obtained with respect thereto. I agree to hold Screamfest and its sponsors harmless in any and all matters pertaining to the consents, licenses, and approvals of heretofore film/video project. I understand that my submission is in no way a guarantee of acceptance into Screamfest. No one from Screamfest or its sponsors has guaranteed me admission into the festival.
