MISSION & OBJECTIVE

Los Angeles International Short Film Festival (LA Shorts Fest) ranks among the most prestigious international short film festivals in the world.

The festival is accredited by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts and the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television
(ACCT) presenters of the Canadian Screen Awards.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

In past years, 47 LA Shorts Fest participants have earned Academy Award nominations, with 15 filmmakers actually taking home the Oscar.

This year's Oscar winner in Live Action Short 'Stutterer' won Best Foreign Film at LA Shorts Fest in 2015.

And this year's Oscar winner for Animated Short 'Bear Story' was an official selection of LA Shorts Fest in 2014.

Accredited by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts and the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television (ACCT) presenters of the Canadian Screen Awards

Those who have been honored at the festival include directors, Paul Haggis, Bryan Singer, Jan de Bont, Shane Black, Jon Favreau and actors Gary Oldman, James Woods and Martin Landau. Many recognized actors and directors have screened films and attended the festival such as Scarlett Johansson, Demi Moore, Ashton Kutcher, Courteney Cox, Tim Burton, Jason Reitman, Terry Gilliam, Spike Jonze, Eva Mendes, Jessica Biel, Rachel Weisz, Hilary Swank, Josh Brolin, Kirsten Dunst, Rita Wilson and Vin Diesel.

The 20th annual Los Angeles International Short Film Festival will be held at L.A. LIVE taking place September 1 - 8. The Official Screening Venue is Regal Cinemas L.A. LIVE Stadium 14.

L.A. LIVE is a sports & entertainment district in downtown Los Angeles adjacent to Staples Center and the Los Angeles Convention Center featuring Nokia Theatre and Club Nokia, the Grammy Museum, the 14-screen Regal Cinemas L.A. LIVE Stadium 14 theatre, and ESPN broadcasting studios

LA Shorts Fest annually attracts more than 8,000 moviegoers, filmmakers and entertainment professionals looking for new talent.

GENERAL RULES

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Films must have been completed after Jan. 1, 2015.
All non-English films must have English subtitles.
Films must be submitted via online screener.
Works-in-progress will be considered, provided they will be completed prior to the festival.
Do NOT send stills or press kits. If your film is selected we will ask you to email us a still in jpeg format.
Though not a requirement, we prefer films NOT screened in Los Angeles County. Our selection committee will factor in previous screenings in the Los Angeles area when determining a film's selection.

Films must NOT have screened in Los Angeles county. You may submit more than one film, but you must complete a separate entry form and pay entry fee for each film.

By submitting your film for consideration for LA Shorts Fest, you agree to screen your short film if it is an official selection and are obligated to your commitment.


Entry fees are non-refundable.
Entries will not be viewed without payment.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

LA Shorts Fest is hereby granted the right to utilize an excerpt from any film submitted and accepted for exhibition at the Festival for promotional purposes.

The individual or corporation submitting the film hereby warrants that it is authorized to commit the film for screening, and understands and accepts these requirements and regulations.

The undersigned shall indemnify and hold harmless LA Shorts Fest from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney's fees, and costs of the court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, screening, and loss of or damage to the screening videos entered.
