LA Shorts Fest distinguishes between shorts (under 25 minutes) and long shorts (between 25 and 45 minutes) in all categories.
MISSION & OBJECTIVE
Los Angeles International Short Film Festival (LA Shorts Fest) ranks among the most prestigious international short film festivals in the world. The festival is accredited by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences and the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.
ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
LA Shorts Fest is the only film festival with 7 award categories recognized by the Academy Awards. In past years, 44 participants have earned Academy Award nominations, with 13 filmmakers actually taking home the Oscar.
LA Shorts Fest is an official qualifying event for the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) short film awards. This means that award-winners at the festival are eligible to win BAFTA's
Those who have been honored at the festival include directors, Paul Haggis, Bryan Singer, Jan de Bont, Shane Black, Jon Favreau and actors Gary Oldman, James Woods and Martin Landau. Many recognized actors and directors have screened films and attended the festival such as Scarlett Johansson, Demi Moore, Ashton Kutcher, Courteney Cox, Tim Burton, Jason Reitman, Terry Gilliam, Spike Jonze, Eva Mendes, Jessica Biel, Rachel Weisz, Hilary Swank, Josh Brolin, Kirsten Dunst, Rita Wilson and Vin Diesel.
The 2015 Los Angeles International Short Film Festival is moving to L.A. LIVE downtown taking place September 3 - 10. The Official Screening Venue is Regal Cinemas L.A. LIVE Stadium 14.
LA Shorts Fest annually attracts more than 8,000 moviegoers, filmmakers and entertainment professionals looking for new talent.

Films must have been completed after Jan. 1, 2014.
All non-English films must have English subtitles.
Films must be submitted via Online Screeners.
Works-in-progress will be considered, provided they will be completed prior to the festival.
Do NOT send stills or press kits. If your film is selected we will ask you to email us a still in jpeg format.
Though not a requirement, we prefer films NOT screened in Los Angeles County. Our selection committee will factor in previous screenings in the Los Angeles area when determining a film's selection.
Films must NOT have screened in a SHORT film festival in Hollywood.
You may submit more than one film, but you must complete a separate entry form and pay entry fee for each film.
Entry fees are non-refundable.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
LA Shorts Fest is hereby granted the right to utilize an excerpt from any film submitted and accepted for exhibition at the Festival for promotional purposes.
The individual or corporation submitting the film hereby warrants that it is authorized to commit the film for screening, and understands and accepts these requirements and regulations.
The undersigned shall indemnify and hold harmless LA Shorts Fest from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney's fees, and costs of the court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, screening, and loss of or damage to the screening videos entered.
