MISSION & OBJECTIVE
FirstGlance's mission is to provide indie filmmakers, both professional and student, the opportunity for exposure, exhibition, encouragement and opportunities to get visibility beyond the festival route.

In the past 16 years, FirstGlance has become a premiere international venue for up-and-coming indie directors, animators, and documentarians from around the globe to showcase their amazing films.

The festival has been named multiple times by Moviemaker Magazine, as "one of the best film festival investments", named by Time Magazine as "one of the festival's for the rest of us" and has been touted as one of the biggest little festivals in North America and "Philly's Slamdance"

Established in 1996, FirstGlance is proud to be recognized as one of the first independent film festivals in the United States. As the festival expands with new sponsorships, record attendance and bigger prize packages, we look forward to finding even more ways to support filmmakers.

We are a festival by indie filmmakers, for indie filmmakers and we take pride in being a visionary festival that celebrates independent film on both coasts.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
FirstGlance Film Festival Philadelphia has been a champion of indie film since 1996 by supporting filmmakers from around the globe with state of the art screenings, theatrical and streaming distribution opportunities and more.

All Official Selections receive a festival awards package valued at over $200.00. All selections get promoted through our highly trafficked online trailer network with over 400K views and are invited to become a part of our online distribution platform partners.

This year, we continue our short online contest, available to select short films we're unable to program due to festival programming constraints, with a secure online theater, where registered voters can watch and vote on their favorites. In our past 9 contests, we've screened over 300 shorts with over 100,000 registered voters, and the winner is awarded with over $2500.00 in prizes and a premiere screening at the next FirstGlance Film Festival.

$1,000 in cash will be awarded to the audience favorite film in each category that receives 200 entries or more.

BEST OF FEST Winner share over $25,000 dollars in prizes annually from Sony, Glidecam Camera Support, Showbiz Software Budgeting and Scheduling Software, Gorilla Software, Final Draft Software, Frame Forge 3D, Twisted Tracks Soundtracks, Screenplay Systems Software, Moviemaker Magazine Subscrip, FirstGlance DVD, Festival T-shirt, Poster, Passes, STREAMING and VOD Distribution Opportunities.

In the past 7 years we have an 94% distribution rate on feature length projects. 48 feature length films received distribution and over 30 were exhibited in limited release in theaters. Multiple director alumni from FirstGlance have gone on to direct a major motion picture releases.
