Any genre short film will be accepted for review. Programs will have themed showings. Themes are determined after entries are accepted. There will be multiple awards and prizes.
|Short Film Documentary
|All subjects accepted within time limits. Awards and prizes.
|Short Film Youth
|Youth films must be works shot, directed, and produced by high school or secondary school (pre-college under 18) students. Adult supervision is limited to advisory capacity.
|Music Video must have been produced after 1/1/2001. Any genre's of music! Must be under 5 minutes. Please only submit actual music videos to this category.
MISSION & OBJECTIVE
Since 2004 The Chicago International REEL Shorts Festival seeks to provide opportunity for filmmakers around the world by showcasing their work to REEL PEOPLE in the Chicagoland area. We seek to provide a supportive atmosphere with low entry fees and low cost ticket prices. We are the REEL filmmakers choice for showcasing REEL talent to REEL people.

For over a Decade the ** Chicago International REEL Shorts Festival ** has provided FILMMAKERS from around the World the opportunity to showcase their work to REEL PEOPLE in the Chicagoland area.
A festival created and designed to celebrate the art of the short film, we welcome submissions from around the world. With several days of programming, we help spotlight the best of this genre, the Short Film. So please join us in making the 13th annual Chicago International REEL Shorts Film Festival a continued success.
With unique venues like the state of the art "Film Row Cinema" atop the Wabash building downtown (south loop), Classic venues in Chicago’s Belmont Theater District or a basement screening at the World Famous "Mothers" where you can enjoy a local brew while you watch some of the Worlds best films.
Unique Filmmaker experiences like the Midnight Trolley Ride around the loop where filmmakers enjoy real Chicago Pizza and classic Midwest America beer while touring downtown in an open air trolley.
We are all Shorts All the Time !! If you are looking for a 'snooty' fine wine experience, please look elsewhere.. We love Shorts and we Love Filmmakers but we do not require you to dress up.. Let it all hang out :) With a real Chicago Experience.

Some of the previous attendees included Short Film Distributors from the U.K. and US , Producers from the Oprah Winfrey Show, Producers from the longest-running independent film and video showcase in America "IMAGE UNION" (WTTW, Chicago), local press and over 30 filmmakers from around the world including Brazil, Germany, UK, Spain, Netherlands, Mexico, Italy, Japan, Israel and Canada.

RULES & REGULATIONS
NON ONLINE Payments in US dollars may be made by check or money order. Checks or money orders in US Dollars only should be made payable to PROJECT CHICAGO. International entrants must use an international money order paid in US dollars through a US bank.

**CANADIAN ENTRANTS MAY NOT PAY BY PERSONAL CHECK! (due to the large amount of banking errors) Only Online payments by credit card or International Money Order IN US DOLLARS.
If your film/music video is selected for exhibition, please be advised that the Festival will require:
* DVD or High Quality Digitized file. (or certain digital formats)
Submission Procedures (non online submission)
* Please submit ONE (1) (NTSC) DVD clearly labeled with entry number, title, type, email and contact name.
* One (1) press kit (digital) (if available)
* Payment (see Payment & Return).
Packaging - Ship your cassette in a bubble-pack envelope. Do not use a fiberpack. The festival is not responsible for damage to tapes incurred in shipping.
Costs & Labeling - All shipping costs to and from Chicago must be borne by the sender. All tapes must indicate title, shipper*s name, and shipping address. To confirm receipt, please include a self-addressed stamped postcard with your entry.
We cannot confirm receipt of packages by telephone. DO NOT CALL please email.
International Entries - All entries from outside the US should be sent Air Mail Registered or by a parcel. We cannot accept entries shipped via air-freight.
Return of Entries - Submission preview tapes WILL NOT be returned.
* Submission DVD's, completed submission form, and submission fee must be postmarked by September 30th and received no later than October 15th.
* World and US Premieres are not required.
* All films and videos in a language other than English must be subtitled in English for Festival presentation.
* Filmmakers must deliver final format (as indicated) for festival screening. No exceptions will be permitted.
* Short Films YOUTH must be works shot, directed, and produced by high school or secondary school (pre-college) students. Adult supervision is limited to advisory capacity.
All, shorts and music videos are eligible for all Awards. Awards and prizes will be given but are to be determined at a later time. Prizes awarded may be a mix of cash and prizes or just prizes. Prize worth are just estimates made by the festival directors and may not be actual values.
ALL DECISIONS BY OUR JUDGES ARE FINAL.
Any taxes as a result of prizes are the complete responsibility of the people/persons that submit the film.
To submit a film you must hold or share copyright of the film and its content.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
LEGAL: By submitting to PROJECT CHICAGO's "Chicago International REEL shorts festival" you warrant, as sole and exclusive owner/s of all legal right and title thereto that you have absolute authority to submit the entry to Project Chicago. You will indemnify and hold harmless Project Chicago, its judges, its sponsors and partners, individually and collectively, from and against all claims, demands, losses, damages, costs, liabilities and expenses including legal expenses arising out of or in connection with any and all claims, including third party claims, based on films/videos submitted to Project Chicago.
PUBLICITY: If your film/video/commercial/ music video/promo is selected, you expressly grant Project Chicago the royalty-free, perpetual, non-exclusive right and license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, distribute, and display any and all publicity materials related to the film/video/commercial/music video/promo, including but not limited to stills, press releases, bios, and trailers, in whole or in part, without limitation to territory, and/or to incorporate said publicity materials in other works in any form, media, or technology now known or later developed. You must notify Project Chicago in writing if you no longer wish your publicity materials to be used by the Festival.
YOU GRANT Project Chicago the right to screen your film or video at and as part of the festival. You may NOT and will not withdraw your film or video from consideration without the WRITTEN approval of a Project Chicago director.
ACCEPTANCE OF REGULATIONS: By signing the entry form for Project Chicago, the participant accepts, without reservation, the terms of the present regulations as stated in this document.
