MISSION & OBJECTIVE
The Action on Film Festival aims to promote artistically and culturally significant film arts through education and exhibition in an atmosphere of unity for the entire AOF family of filmmakers and writers. We do this to enrich the life of the community, filmmakers and of course individuals who pursue careers in front of and behind the camera. By working directly with filmmakers independent of budget, origin, style or genre we celebrate the art of film and filmmakers in addition to:
-Setting high standards for quality film education and exhibition, placing artistic and cultural merit above commercial appeal.
-Working collaboratively with filmmakers and producers to increase access to quality film arts, presentations, programs, and projects.
-Enjoy the art of Action on Film in all of its glory from the delicate movement of the wings of a butterfly to a blazing shoot out on the streets of an inner city.
-The festival takes place in State of the art Theaters. There is nothing wrong with festivals that showcase films in other types of venues but we believe that we must give our filmmakers and writers the best venues to showcase their work as possible.
- Over the years people have come to understand that Action On Film does not just mean action films it means the action the filmmaker takes to bring his or her dream to the screen and the reaction of the audiences to that work.
-Oh yeah, we love filmmakers and writers too.
The Action On Film International Film Festival has been honored with being named to many Top Festival Lists both Domestic and International. Perhaps it is the free video interviews, or Black Tie Dinner and Award Shows or just the great way filmmakers and writers are treated. Whatever the reason, the AOF Team is proud to be acknowledged by MovieMaker Magazine and for being placed in such high regard as some of the world's other top film festivals.
ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
The Action On Film Festival is dedicated to movement on Film and Video. Not just what you do in front of but what a director does with the camera itself.
Action is happening all around us. From the writing of a script to the raising of the funds to complete your project. That is Action and that is what we celebrate at the AOF.
While we all love a great action film, action is more than martial arts, fast cars and what you typically believe to be action. Action is also, lovers walking on a beach, a kiss, hard edge dialogue and even more than that.
So, any film or video that has movement, life, excitement, and fire, that is what we are looking for and yes of course, we want your shoot `em ups and films with fight scenes too. In short, we want to celebrate it all. Drama, Documentary, Experimental, Comedy, Animation and Family films have all found a home at the AOF.
Past winners of the AOF Fest include actor/writer/producer D.B. Sweeney, Harry Lennix of The Matrix and Superman: Man of Steel, undiscovered talents like Stan Harrington and Matt and Gary Scone along with literally hundreds of new filmmakers, writers, animators and producers. Our Lifetime Achievement and Half - Life Award winners include Kim Coates, Michael Madsen, Talia Shire, John Savage, Bill Duke, Harry Lennix, Nick Mancuso, Bill Plympton and many other top names in the industry.
Award winners receive their awards at our gala black tie Star Studded and Industry Rich Award Show and Dinner which has sold out every year since it's creation a decade ago.
Prizes given out in 2014 were well over $100,000 in cash and prizes with generous support from Trinidad Cigars, Video Symphony (Scholarships), Pond 5 with over $50,000 in digital downloads and media, EVS Equipment -(Thousands of Dollars in Equipment Rentals) Showbiz Software, MovieMaker Magazine, MovieFone, Ruth Chris Restaurants, Hollywood Scriptwriter, Avid, Sony,Altadis and many others. Every filmmaker in attendance receives an incredible Goodie Bag and Free Passes to all Film Events and Free Drink and Dinner Mixers, Symposiums, Interviews and lots more.
Many AOF Submitters receive FREE Subscriptions to Hollywood Scriptwriter Magazine and other industry Mags; a $35.00 Value plus many other perks.
We also produce interviews of attending filmmakers and give them to you for free or post them on our site. These interviews are great promotional pieces for your website, film, video, short, script, oh yes, did we mention that we produce scenes from submitting screenplay and scriptwriters and then show the produced scenes along side films at the festival? Well, we do and people love it.
