Feature films of all genres will be considered. Feature length narratives with a minimum of 60 minute running times.
Short Film
Short films of all genres will be considered
Feature Documentary
Feature documentaries of all genres will be considered. Feature documentaries must be over 60 minutes in length.
Short Documentary
Short Documentary films of all genres will be considered

Animation
Animated films of all lengths will be considered.
Student Film
Films by student filmmakers currently enrolled in an accredited college or university.

Web Series
Submissions will be accepted for current web series projects

Music Videos of all genres of music
Short Screenplay Competition
Winners and finalists of the Big Apple Film Festival Short Screenplay Competition receive the opportunity to pitch their script to production companies, agents and other industry representatives through Virtual PitchFest, including NBC Universal, Warner Bros., UTA, The Gersh Agency, and many more. Winners and finalists of the short script competition will also receive complimentary passes to all Big Apple Film Festival screenings and events.

Feature Screenplay Competition
Screenplay winners and finalists of the Big Apple Film Festival Feature Length Screenplay Competition receive the opportunity to pitch their script to production companies, agents and other industry representatives through Virtual PitchFest, including NBC Universal, Warner Bros., UTA, The Gersh Agency, and many more.

Winners and finalists will also receive a listing on InkTip, which will allow writers
to promote themselves and their scripts to InkTip’s entire network of producers, managers, and agents. 

Companies who are InkTip members include: ABC, Anonymous Content, APA, CBS Films, HBO Films, ICM, Paradigm, Paramount Pictures, Hallmark Channel, FX, Universal, WME, Echo Lake, Zero Gravity, Bad Robot, 20th Century Fox, and many more. 

Producers have made more than 350 films from scripts and writers found through InkTip.
TV/Web Series PILOT
Seeking TV/web Series pilot scripts that are intended for development into a continuous series. 60 pages or under. Winners and finalists of the TV/web series pilot script competition receive the opportunity to pitch their script to production companies, agents and other industry representatives through Virtual PitchFest, including NBC Universal, Warner Bros., UTA, The Gersh Agency, and many more. Winners and finalists of the TV/web series pilot script competition will also receive complimentary passes to all Big Apple Film Festival screenings and events.

MISSION & OBJECTIVE

Big Apple Film Festival, named one of MovieMaker Magazine's top "25 Film Festivals Worth The Entry Fee" and "25 Coolest Film Festivals", takes place in the heart of the greatest city in the world. Our mission is to celebrate the great city of New York through the exhibition of innovative filmmaking. BAFF is dedicated to showcasing, highlighting and promoting the highest quality films from the New York City independent film community, as well as specially selected films from across the country and around the world. We seek to bridge the gap between dedicated independent film audiences and filmmakers, as well as to connect emerging filmmakers with established industry professionals.

Additionally, the Grand Prize winner of our short screenplay competition will have their script produced by BAFF and premiere at the Big Apple Film Festival!

In addition, our mission is to bridge the gap between dedicated independent film audiences and filmmakers, as well as to connect emerging filmmakers with established industry professionals. The festival offers a variety of film screenings and special New York City premieres. Additionally, the festival is proud to honor a variety of New York City based filmmakers, writers, actors and artists who have played an influential role in the growth of independent filmmaking in the Big Apple.

GENERAL RULES

BIG APPLE FILM FESTIVAL RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. Big Apple Film Festival accepts submissions for feature films, short films, feature documentaries, short documentaries, animation, web series, student films, music videos, feature length screenplays and short screenplays.

2. All films submitted must have been completed on or after September 1, 2017.

3. All films must be submitted with an online screener.

4. All feature narrative and feature documentary submissions must be over 60 minutes in length.

5. All short film narrative and short documentary submissions must be under 60 minutes in length.

6. Animated, web series and student film submissions of all lengths will be considered.

7. Music video submissions must be under 10 minutes.

8. ALL SUBMISSION FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.
