MISSION & OBJECTIVE
The NYC Downtown Short Film Festival is a program of DMAC-Duo Multicultural Arts Center a (501 c3) non-profit organization located at 62 East 4th Street in New York City's East Village. The mission of DMAC is to create, promote and celebrate multicultural arts through theater, music, dance, art and film.
ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
Welcome to the 12th 2016 NYC Downtown Short Film Festival (NYCDSFF).
No matter how sophisticated a home cinema is there is nothing else that rivals getting together with a group of strangers in a darkened space to experience the magic of film making. In today's attention-deficient world of YouTube, IMs, and blog posts, the short film has never been more relevant. The same can be said for the Annual NYC Downtown Short Film Festival, which attracts more submissions and a larger audience every year.
Showcasing some of the best short films being produced in America and internationally, the festival's line-up includes provocative dramas, clever comedies, edgy animation, and intriguing documentaries.
Throughout the year we hold screenings at which an audience is screened 4-5 films, given ballots and votes, those films that receive the highest votes at these screenings will then be screened at our annual Festival in June 2016. We do this so that many more films than those just screened at our festival get a chance to be screened in the NYC. Please be assured that if you cannot attend your screening, the audience will give your film equal consideration.
Michelangelo Alasa', the Artistic Director for the Duo Multicultural Arts Center, spoke of the festival's simplicity, stating that there are no corporate sponsorships, no red carpets or premieres. Without all these trappings, festival-goers are able to enjoy the succinct experience of what a film fest is all about.
Our screening room is a charming and intimate turn of the century theater with wide aisles for viewing comfort. Once again we are proud to be featuring some of the best short films being produced by American directors as well as a provocative selection of international films.

The NYCDSFF accepts submission in all genres provided they adhere to our time limitations.
Please make sure that your dvd is NTSC region 0 or 1. We cannot screen dvds in the PAL format. Unless we ask for it, the screener you submit will be the one we use for screenings. We prefer dvds without any leader, color corrections bars or water marks.
Please make check payable to: Spanish-English Ensemble Theatre Inc. Checks from US banks only, foreign checks will not be accepted.
