Student Short Film
The 2014 White Sands International Film Festival will be showcasing films that have been made by student filmmakers around the world. The WSIFF is accepting Narrative, Documentary shorts films.

Entry fee for this category is $10.00. Proof that the film was shot while attending college MUST be included with the submission. ie Student ID As well as the University the student filmmaker was attending.

MISSION & OBJECTIVE
The White Sands International Film Festival is dedicated to bringing independent filmmakers and audiences together under the gorgeous backdrop of Southern New Mexico. WSIFF screens outstanding short and feature length films, documentaries and narratives of all genres from around the world, while promoting the local film industry and developing lasting relationships within the international film community.

White Sands is interested in independent films with contemporary issues that celebrate the human spirit by depicting stories with quality writing, acting and direction. We hope to see you at this unique, intimate and exciting festival in the Land of Enchantment!


ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
The White Sands International Film Festival began ten years ago to bring arts education to Southern New Mexico and encourage the film industry to take advantage of its breath-taking country side.

Now in 10th year, the festival has grown to include and offer a uniquely diverse program encompassing a wide range of cinema, panels, and workshops, hosted by well recognized industry professionals with unparalleled hospitality; a rewarding experience for filmmakers and audiences alike.

NEW MEXICO FILM INDUSTRY

Events such as the WSIFF cultivate future independent filmmaking in New Mexico and act as a hub for the independent film industry. Guests of the WSIFF are given the opportunity to network with experienced filmmakers to support their personal growth in the industry and learn about the tax incentives and other benefits of filming in Southern New Mexico.

GENERAL RULES
1. Entry Deadlines: The Festival is not obligated to review entries that are postmarked after the last deadline date.

2. Submissions: Entries should be submitted on DVD format only, preferably BluRay DVD. Please submit two (2) copies for judging. The DVD's should be clearly labeled with the Title of Film, Category of Submission, and WAB Tracking ID#. Must submit return address with film and pre-addressed envelope.
3. Preliminary eligibility and classification shall be determined in accordance with procedures and judging recommended by the The White Sands International Film Festival 2014. If the eligibility of any entry is questioned, the White Sands Film Festival Committee shall be authorized to make a determination.

4. The entries shall be judged on the basis script writing, acting, direction and overall production quality. Advertising films and promotional films shall be excluded.

5.. One award will be given to the best film directed and/or produced in each genre category, and will be awarded at the judges' discretion. An audience choice award will also be given.

6.The year of completion shall be no earlier than January of 2012.

A shortlist process will take place immediately following the closing time, so late submissions (see late submission dates at Withoutabox for terms and conditions of late entry) cannot be accepted.

Entries received that are defective and unable to play will be not be accepted. WSIFF will notify filmmaker of defective disc, it is the filmmaker's responsibility to provide a replacement copy. Failure to do so will exclude your entry from the judging process.

Entries unable to be duplicated for judging purposes will not be considered for judging. You will be notified if WSIFF has difficulties making copies, it is the filmmaker's responsibility to provide a replacement copy. Failure to do so will exclude your entry from the judging process.
