The 11th Asiana International Short Film Festival (AISFF 2013) is the first and largest international competitive short film festival in Korea. AISFF, exploring for a new territory and exit for short films, is the place where all the creative works from the world are coming across, communicating and of course fairly competing. Amazingly with its short period of time, 2,152 films from 90 countries were competed last year, which has been showing an infinite potentiality of AISFF and its new current on short film world in near future.


ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
AISFF will provide a great opportunity to short filmmakers as an alternative arena going beyond their local and national boundaries, for greater international audience awareness.

AISFF will be the best place to see the newest trend of world cinema through eyes of short films, the future of cinema and the cinematic variety and cultural diversity. AISFF is looking forward to seeing your great work of art as well as your passion for short films.

The 11th Asiana International Short Film Festival (AISFF 2013) will take place from November 7th to 12th of 2013.

Regulations

1. Organization
The 11th Asiana International Short Film Festival (AISFF 2013) is presented by the AISFF Executive Committee.

2. Objectives
1) The 11th Asiana International Short Film Festival is a part of the Mecenat movements and one of sponsorred business for culture and arts by the Asiana Airlines, Inc., which aims to encourage the unique cinematic creativity of the short films and to strongly support future media culture.
2) The Asiana International Short Film Festival, as an international competitive film festival, will introduce diverse genres of short films to the international audiences and contribute to establish the festival’s filmmakers in the international community.
3) The Asiana International Short Film Festival aims to expand the alternative arena of distribution and marketing of short films, through post festival screenings such as the In-Flight screenings and others.

3. Festival Dates and Venue
The 11th Asiana International Short Film Festival will be held from November 7 to 12 of 2013 in the heart of Seoul, Korea.

4. Program
The 11th Asiana International Short Film Festival consists of International Competitive, Domestic Competitive and non-competitive Special program.

1) International Competition
Open for international short filmmakers, the awards are as follows.
Grand Prize
- 15 million Won (approx. USD 15,000), a trophy, 2 round trip flight tickets (Business Class)
Special Jury Award
- 5 million won (approx. USD 5,000), a trophy, 2 round trip flight tickets
AISFF Rock Award
- 3 million Won (approx. USD 3,000), a trophy
AISFF Public Jury Award
- 1 million Won (approx. USD 1,000), a trophy
Face in Shorts Award
- 1 million Won (approx. USD 1,000), a trophy
* In addition to the awards stated above, there will be more awards sponsored by the festival’s corporate partner.

2) National Competition
Open for domestic short filmmakers, the awards are as follows;

The festival programmer will select and invite outstanding films that best express the themes for Special Program Sections.

5. Eligibility of International Competition
1) AISFF 2013 accepts short films produced after June 2012, in any type or genre of fiction/non-fiction, animation/live action film with maximum 30 minutes in length. For all submissions, only Korean Premiere will be accepted.
2) The screening format should be 35mm film, Beta (NTSC), Digi-Beta (NTSC), 6mm DV, HD, HDV. Unless dialogue is in English, the print or the video should have English subtitles.
3) The entry deadline is July 31, 2013.
4) The entry fee is none.
5) After you receive the official invitation letter from the program team, you should send all the required materials to the festival office by regular mail. All documents must be in English, and digital publicity materials must be received NO LATER THAN SEPTEMBER 27 via the AISFF program team’s email. Be sure to mark all materials: "FOR TEMPORARY, CULTURAL PURPOSE ONLY. NO COMMERCIAL VALUE" when you send the materials using by post.
6) Required Items
- Filled entry form
- 2 DVD screeners with English subtitles.
(The preview copy must be the same version as the print or the video to be screened at the festival)
- Synopsis
- Director’s bio & filmography
- 1 photo of director (Image files must be over 300dpi)
- At least 3 stills (Image files must be over 300dpi)
- Dialogue list (English)
- Director's statement
- The list of previous festival screenings and awards
- Other promotional materials: press kit, poster, soundtrack, etc. (optional)

6. Selection for International Competition
1) The films for International Competition will be selected by the festival programmer and the preliminary jury, and be individually announced after September 15, 2013.
2) International Competition Juries are appointed by the festival executive committee.
3) The selected films for International Competition cannot be withdrawn after Sept. 15, 2013.
4) The submitted preview copy will not be returned.

7. Shipment of Prints and Liability
1) The prints and video tapes for screening in the International Competition must arrive at the festival office before Oct. 17, 2013.
2) The prints and video tapes for screening at the Special Program must arrive at the festival office before Oct. 17, 2013.
3) Immediately after the shipment of print, the sender must inform the festival office an indication of the method and date. Also the original copy of the invoice including the name of sender, film title and format, number of reels, and the condition of color or B&W film must be sent with the print.
4) The 11th Asiana International Short Film Festival covers the cost of shipment only if the print is sent via festival's officially designated courier service. When other courier service is preferable, the cost will be determined under the negotiation with the Asiana International Short Film Festival Executive Committee.
5) All prints will be returned to the address stated in the entry form within 4 weeks after the closing day of the festival.

8. Insurance
1) The official courier service of Asiana International Short Film Festival is insured for the liability of round-way print shipments.
2) In case the print is damaged or lost while in the festival’s possession, the Asiana International Short Film Festival will be responsible for the costs involved in making a new print. If the print is subtitled, the festival will reimburse the subtitling costs as well.

9. Use of Promotional Excerpts
1) The excerpts from the submitted films may be used for the festival publicity. The total duration of the excerpts from the films is at meximum 3 minutes of the film’s length for the EPK clips. In need of exceeding this length, the festival will confer with the corresponding copyright holder.
2) The submitted trailers may be used for the festival promotion, including publicity at the in-flight screenings.
3) All submitted documents would be used to publish the AISFF 2013 catalogues.

10. Post-Festival screenings
The 11th Asiana International Short Film Festival aims to promote the following screenings to expand the market of short films and independent films for alternative distribution.

1) In the Air Program
The selected films in ‘In the Air Program’ of the 11th Asiana International Short Film Festival will be screened on international flights and selected domestic flights of the Asiana Airlines for maximum a month per each film from January to June of 2014. AISFF provides the license fees for this screenings apart from the awards.

2) Non commercial Touring Screening
All selected films of the AISFF 2013 may be re-screened at the non-commercial touring screening organized by the Asiana International Short Film Festival.

11. Authorizations
For all selected films, the festival has the right to:
- Screen the film no more than three times during the festival.
- Make a digital copy of the film (except films in 35mm format) with Korean subtitles for screening purposes. It will not cause any loss of image quality and the copy will be strictly maintained in the festival office. The copy will be destroyed after the festival.
- Keep DVDs of the films in its archive for non-circulating/non-profit use and educational purposes. Public screening will not occur without written consent from the rights holder.
- Use all publicity materials to promote the festival.

Award-winning films must authorize the rights of free non-commercial touring screenings within one year of the end of festival.

12. Agreement
It is assumed that regulations are in force once film distributors, agents, or producers submit their signed entry form to the Asiana International Short Film Festival.
