MISSION & OBJECTIVE
SHOWCASING FOR THE PUBLIC OF NEW ZEALAND'S GARDEN CITY NEW AND EXCITING NARRATIVE SHORT FILM WORKS FROM AT HOME AROUND THE GLOBE
ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
The Canterbury Short Film Festival's focus is to allow local audiences to see an impressive collection of works from around our country and around the globe, and to allow film makers a chance to screen their works in New Zealand's Christchurch, known as The Garden City but now mainly known for its devastating 2011 earthquakes.
It differs each year as to what it offers so as to keep the format fresh. The type of films selected ranges from film school / novice works to semi-pro / professional works, so the event services a wide range of film-making artists. The focus is on dramatic narrative.
The Festival is an enterprise managed by the Belladonna Film Trust (est. 2000) a charitable Trust that has staged Christchurch's only grass-roots short film festival event since 2002 showcasing local talent, and, since 2007, showcasing a collection of international works as a part of the program.
In 2014 the Festival will be staged at a Cinema in late March over two nights.
