Shorts Program
This is an open shorts program, accepting any genre. Films must be less than 30 minutes in length and have been made after January 1, 2013. Graduate film students are encouraged to submit. One thematic showing will done on Thursday at the Sioux City Arts Center with the winner also shown on Saturday at the Orpheum Theater.
Local Filmmakers
If you have a short movie of 30 minutes or less and you are from Iowa and/or the Siouxland area (Northeast Nebraska and Southeast South Dakota), send it in! This category will be separately judged!
Give us your best shorts (30 minutes or less) which are horror or science fiction themed. We are having a special Friday night showing at the local museum. The winner, selected by the audience, will receive a $250 first prize and trophy and will be shown on Saturday as well (maximum prize winnings of $500 for the two nights). You may submit to this category and the Open Shorts Program. We reserve the right to show the film at a time selected by us.

Our goal is to promote the art of film.

The Siouxland Institute of Film, Inc. and its creators have been working for 11 years to promote independent film in Siouxland, a tri-state area including parts of Iowa, South Dakota, and Nebraska. With over 100,000 people living in the immediate area and marketing to thousands more that live nearby, we work to bring in films throughout the year and host the Siouxland Film Festival. For the 11th year in a row, we will be bringing the Siouxland community together, this year EXPANDING to three days. All showings are in downtown Sioux City. Thursday will be a night showing International and Art House films at the Sioux City Arts Center, Friday a Horror/SciFI night at the Sioux City Museum, and Saturday two shows at the historic Orpheum Theater, a 2400 seat renovated performance hall. Submissions come from around the world and from "local" independent moviemakers. It is an entirely "shorts" program, with a 30 minute limit. Prizes will awarded each of the three nights.

-All movies must be no longer than thirty (30) minutes.

-Any subject matter (Documentary, Short-fiction, Animation, Experimental, etc.) . If submitting for the Horror/SciFi category please note same.

-Although we would prefer your work to be submitted via Withoutabox you may mail to the festival by appropriate deadlines.

-Any submission must include your email and street address.

-Once submitted the film cannot be withdrawn.

-Submissions may be screened more than once during the Festival.

-There are three days of screenings: Thursday, Feb. 26th will be at the Sioux City Art Center (showing a thematic category to be determined based on submissions). Friday, Feb. 27th will be at the Sioux City Public Museum showing Horror/SciFi films. The winner of each, selected by the audience, will also be shown on Saturday, Feb. 28th at the Sioux City Orpheum Theater during the Open Shorts Program featuring shorts from around the world and local filmmakers. All winners are selected by the audience by ballot vote tabulated from the two showings on Saturday the 28th.
