MISSION & OBJECTIVE
The Festival discovers, supports, and inspires artists around the world by introducing their work to audiences, fellow filmmakers, and entertainment industry executives. In addition to Short, Faith-based, Green, and Extreme Sports film competitions, the Festival continues to feature its centerpiece feature film showdown, the first film competition to be set up as an elimination-style tournament.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
Named to MovieMaker magazine's list of "Top 25 Festivals Worth the Entry Fee," the Mammoth Film Festival takes place annually in Mammoth Lakes, California. The Festival celebrates film as an art form, as well as its importance in today's entertainment industry and the global economy.

The Festival features a variety of film competitions. The main competition is an elimination-style tournament, voted on by the audience, and accepts feature-length films in four categories: Documentary, Drama, Comedy/Musical, and Foreign. Four other competitions will also take place at the Festival: a Short film competition, a Green film competition, an Extreme Sports film competition, and the recently premiered Faith-based film competition.

The Festival also features a non-competitive Screening Series category. Filmmakers can apply in this category for an opportunity to have their film screened at the festival if they don't qualify for any of the other categories, or if they simply don't wish to have their film in competition.

Mammoth's geographic location, only a short drive from Hollywood, and nearly equidistant from the major population centers of Los Angeles and San Diego to the south, Reno to the north, and San Francisco to the west, makes it a natural nucleus for winter and summer activities. Incorporated in 1984, the Town of Mammoth Lakes sits at an altitude of 7,900 feet, and is surrounded by mountains exceeding 12,000 feet. Mammoth Mountain Ski Area, one of the top ski resorts in the United States, is located just outside of town.

Good luck to everyone!

GENERAL RULES
Mammoth Film Festival is a competitive film festival, and accepts both shorts and feature films in a variety of categories.

The Feature Film competition is a unique first-of-its-kind elimination-style tournament, starting with four brackets, one for each of the following genres: Documentary, Foreign, Drama, Comedy.

Films are chosen for advancement or elimination by the audience, not by a jury, so this is a hectic, fun, and fully interactive festival-going experience for both the filmmakers and festival attendees.

A winner will be determined in each of the four brackets (genres), and awarded a Best Of prize in their respective genres (e.g. Best Documentary). These "final four" winners will then compete for the Best Picture award.

The Short Film competition will be run separately from the Feature competition, and the winner will be awarded the Best Short Film prize.

The Green Film competition will be run separately from the Feature competition, and the winner will be awarded the Best Green Film prize.

The Extreme Sports Film competition will be run separately from the Feature competition, and the winner will be awarded the Best Extreme Sports Film prize.

In general, we accept independent shorts and feature-length films which have not been commercially exhibited, and do not have any distribution deals in place.

To select the correct genre/category in which to enter your film, please pick the MOST APPROPRIATE category. A horror film like "Halloween" might belong in Drama, while "Scary Movie" would be more appropriate in Comedy. "Star Wars" would be a Drama. "The Grudge" is arguably Foreign, and "Ju-on" certainly is. You get the idea.

All short films, in any genre, should be submitted in the Short Film category. However, filmmakers submitting a short film in the Green or Extreme Sports genre may also consider one of the specialty competitions in that genre.

You may submit as many films as you like! Each film will be treated as a separate submission, and must be sent as a separate entry with all required materials, including payment, for each entry.

Below are the specific requirements for films submitted for competition to the Mammoth Film Festival. If your film does not meet all requirements, it may be considered for a film premiere or special screening.

1. Feature films must be 48 minutes or more in length.
2. Short films may be no more than 48 minutes in length.
3. Films may not have been commercially exhibited prior to the Festival.
4. Films must not have been broadcast on the Internet, or US broadcast, cable, or satellite television prior to the Festival.
5. Films may not have any distribution deal in place.
6. Films not in English must have English language subtitles.

All eligible films will be considered, but submitting a film does not guarantee inclusion in the Festival. Submissions which do not meet the eligibility requirements will not be considered. If a film is accepted into the Festival, and later found to be in violation of the requirements, the film will be disqualified. Final category determinations for accepted films will be made at the sole discretion of Mammoth Film Festival. All entry fees are non-refundable, and submitted materials will NOT be returned.

PLEASE NOTE: If you are submitting payment by check, please include the name of the film, or the WAB tracking number, on the front of the check.

Please read the FAQ at www.mammothfilmfestival.com for more details about submitting your film, and answers to common questions.
