International Competition
Our aim of the festival is to find out more outstanding filmmakers over the globe and to introduce them widely to the audience and the industry through the festival.

Rules:
* Running time must be 60 minutes or longer.
* All submissions must be shot digitally and able to be projected in digital format.
* International Competition submissions must be the directors' 1st, 2nd or 3rd feature length film including documentaries. (If the submitted film is a director's 4th feature, the film is not qualified for the competition.)
* Production must be completed after January 1st, 2017.

MISSION & OBJECTIVE

The principal objective of the Festival is to encourage and contribute to cultivate filmmakers in Digital Cinema, produced, edited and screened digitally, through international competitions, screenings and awards for digital filmmakers and their works.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

The SKIP CITY INTERNATIONAL D-Cinema FESTIVAL is an international competitive festival created to encourage and contribute to the development of Digital Cinema (D-Cinema) and to cultivate filmmakers.

In 2017, 810 films were submitted from 85 countries and regions, reflecting the increasing worldwide-interest in the SKIP CITY.

All nominations will be screened by 4K Digital Cinema projector during the festival — the absolute best screening environment. Awards will be presented at the Closing Ceremony through sincere selection by international jury committee.

We all look forward to sharing in your marvelous talents; combine entertainment with cutting edge of digital technologies at SKIP CITY INTERNATIONAL D-Cinema FESTIVAL 2018.

GENERAL RULES

International Competition

* Production must be completed after January 1st, 2017.
* Films cannot be released commercially in Japan prior to the closing date of the Festival.
* Entries submitted once before are not eligible.
* We appreciate submissions be made with an understanding of the Festival's purpose.

1. Entry Fee
There is no entry fee. However, transportation charges and insurance fees for sending the necessary material must be covered by the applicant.

2. Entry Form

*DON'T FORGET TO WRITE CLEARLY WHETHER YOUR ENTRY IS THE DIRECTOR'S 1st, 2nd OR 3rd FEATURE LENGTH FILM IN YOUR COVER LETTER.

3. Pre-Selection Materials

Screener
Online screener (Vimeo or YouTube with password security is preferred) and DVD (NTSC or PAL) are the accepted formats for pre-selection. If the film's original language is other than Japanese or English, please make sure it has English subtitles.

Press Material (All materials must be in English or Japanese. Please send materials in either digital form or hard coy)
c-1. Synopsis (approximately 70 words) (in either digital form or hard copy)
c-2. Cast and Crew list (in either digital form or hard copy)
c-3. Biography and filmography of the director (in either digital form or hard copy)

4. Mailing Instructions :
The properly completed entry form, required promotional material, and pre-selection DVD must be received by Thursday, March 1st, 2018 at the following address:

5. Return of materials
None of the submission materials will be returned. All submitted DVDs will be shredded after the festival.

6. Copyrights
The applicant must hold the rights to the entire content of the submitted work and certify that all of the content contained herein is the sole property of the submitter and violates no breach of copyright. The festival organizers shall not be responsible or liable for any litigation or damage of any sort incurred as the result of such violation.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

The entry into SKIP CITY INTERNATIONAL D-Cinema FESTIVAL 2018 constitutes agreement with all festival regulations and implies permission to exhibit work during the festival. If any falsehoods are detected on an entry form, the related film will be excluded from nomination and its applicants will be required to repay any expenses incurred by the Festival as a result thereof.

International Competition submissions must be the directors' 1st, 2nd or 3rd feature length film including documentaries. (If the submitted film is a director's 4th feature, the film is not qualified for the competition.) Production must be completed after January 1st, 2017. All International Competition submissions must have been produced for theatrical release. Films cannot be released commercially in Japan prior to the closing date of the Festival. Entries submitted once before are not eligible. We appreciate submissions be made with an understanding of the Festival's purpose.
