MISSION & OBJECTIVE

The Sydney Underground Film Festival is dedicated to nurturing an alternative film culture through the promotion of independent and experimental films. The festival seeks to support filmmakers who operate outside established film industry infrastructures, by providing a platform for exhibition, exposure and critical discussion.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

Entries are now open for the 10th annual Sydney Underground Film Festival, which will take place from Thursday 15th till Sunday 18th September 2016 at the THE FACTORY THEATRE in Sydney, Australia.

The festival programs quality indie / experimental / arthouse films from Australia and around the world and is organised by a committed group of filmmakers / artists / film teachers and film lovers, who understand the need for a sustainable and thriving alternative film culture.

Each year, the Sydney Underground Film Festival screens approximately 100 films, including 30 features. We look forward to programming as many films as possible again this year - our 10th birthday!

All the screenings take place in the one location and a real festival vibe is sought-after when we organise SUFF. We encourage patrons to hang around during films and enjoy and experience a number of films, sessions and masterclasses.

ADDED BONUS!
Since the festival started in 2007, we have always given filmmakers, who have been rejected from another film festival, a $5 (AUD) discount! You just have to include a rejection letter that you have received from a film festival with your entry (emailed to hello@suff.com.au is fine.)
