Originally established in 2007 under the Moving Image Film Festival. The Daring Indy Film Festival is devoted to showcasing the best of independent Canadian and international cinema to Film Enthusiasts all while highlighting up-and-coming talented filmmakers. Featuring a different HOT TOPIC competition each year.
ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
Established in 2007 under the Moving Image Film Festival. The Daring Indy Film Festival is devoted to showcasing the best of independent Canadian and international cinema to Film Enthusiasts all while highlighting up-and-coming talented filmmakers. DIFF provides opportunities for the general public to explore the exciting world of film via a 4-day showcase extravaganza. With the DIFF experience you get global coverage and exposure, as we cater to the international film market as well as hundreds of distributors and production companies worldwide who review our festival catalogue and magazine in search for new acquisition.
DIFF is proud to be part of the international film market having representatives networking with other film festivals and markets’ such as: TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival), Cannes Film Festival and Market, AFM (American Film Market), Sundance Film Festival, MIPTV, MIPCOM, Asia Film Art conventions and much more. Each year will feature a new theme, which will allow filmmakers to get their opportunity to create something from scratch specifically for the festival and it’s audience. Those partners and executives at DIFF are filmmakers themselves who spent many years exploring and experimenting with the world of film as they understand the benefits of having a their creation shared with their peers and a fervent audience.
DIFF provides screenings, media training, competitions’, Q & A discussions, and workshops throughout festivities to filmmakers and those interested in learning a bit about the advantages of creating a film, along with allowing the common man the probability of meeting filmmakers from Canada and around the world.

Rules and Regulations
A 1. The daring independent film festival has all rights to reject or disqualify any participants for false information on any products, films, and media works which may affect the outcome of the festival and its events.
A 2. All films can be submitted in either DVD, Mini DV, VHS, BETACAM, DVCAM, Formats for viewing purposes only. We prefer DVD or all DV formats as it is easier for us to view as previews.
A 3. Movies of Pornographic Nature are prohibited from the festival. (Nudity is Accepted!) Language and freedom of speech is practiced as part of this festival so feel free to say what's on your mind. That's why we are here.
B 1. Exhibition formats are accepted in DVD (non regional coding), Mini DV, DVCAM, BETACAM, DIGI BETA, HD, HDV TAPE (720p or 1080i) NTSC or PAL formats are accepted; Super 8mm, 16mm, and 35mm film formats. All Soundtrack work is accepted in Dolby Digital, DTS, Stereo, Mono, Surround 2.1, 5.1, 7.1.
B 2. Selections for categories/programs will be based on terms created for each individual category. Moving Image reserves the right to reject/decline any film(s)which we feel may be unsuitable for the film festival.
B 3. All submitted projects must be produced and completed no earlier than the Jan 1st 2011. It is requested but not required to submit a Production Package/Media Kit. A minimum of 3 production stills, or artwork may be submitted with the film. Media Kits may include the following: tagline, synopsis, film description, film treatment, art and stills, press clippings(optional), cast list, crew list, and any affiliations with other production/distribution companies.
B 4. B 4. When submitting by mail please forward all tape or reel material to the following address or submission will be revoked without refund of submission fees. DIFF does not assume responsibility for return of submissions.

B5. All money orders are to be made payable to "DIFF". Cheques which are "not sufficient in funds" (NSF)
will be revoked entry until owed amount is paid in full.
B6. Please note that DIFF will not be returning preview and/or exhibition copies of materials sent to either preview and showcase at the festival unless a $25 US fee is paid. Return submissions must be no more than 1"inch H x 1" inch W x 1"inch L and can not weight more than 1lbs. All work submitted will not be returned unless the $25 return service charge is paid for!
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
By registering and submitting to "The daring Independent film festival" you acknowledge our right to review, screen and place judgment upon the media which is submitted.
The applicant submitting their film acknowledges DIFF's right to revoke, and decline acceptance to the festival, its categories, awards and competitions.
By agreeing to these terms, the applicant acknowledges that there are no refunds post submission, and that the submission fee is paid to Moving Image's servicing department as part of the submission processing and handling. All shipping and handling fees are to be incurred by the filmmaker upon requesting the return of submitted materials.
Furthermore, all applicants acknowledge the use of images from their film(s) upon acceptance of the submission process to further display methods of promotion for their film within the film festival's promotional activities.
