We know how the economy is and how costly filmmaking can be so we've greatly reduced our submission fee from $50 to just $20 that's a $30 savings!

The mission of INDIE FEST USA is to advance the independent filmmaker and artists of motion pictures. To recognize outstanding achievements in independent motion pictures and the community, while provide filmmakers with a supportive, positive and enthusiastic audiences for their creative efforts.

Bringing to its audience of both local residents and visitors from all over Southern California and the world a wide array of distinguished independent motion pictures which would probably otherwise be inaccessible to them. To provide a common forum social gathering ground for the independent filmmaker and independent artists to promote their films, network with others in the industry and meet the general public.

Indie Fest USA is produced and operated by The Garden Grove Community Arts Society. Our mission is to further the arts and revive the arts in our schools and communities.


ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
INDIE FEST USA takes place on the Historic Main Street and Village Green Park of beautiful Garden Grove in Southern California!

The annual Indie Fest USA Int’l Film & Music Festival was established in 2006 is an exciting and entertaining eclectic mix of outstanding independent films from the US and International filmmakers and adding local and regional bands and solo artists in genres including rock, alt. rock, jazz, folk, cover and indie. To date we have screened over 1500 films from around the world, been attended by more than 1700 filmmakers and 15,000 film fans.

Add to this red carpet events, special guests and celebrities including Academy Award nominees and Golden Globe Winners, opening and closing night parties, daily seminars and socials plus networking galore.

Our unique mix of screening venues include the Short Film Showcase held in an authentic Belgium Gastro Pub (a filmmaker's favorite), the International Showcase held in a 1930's era theatre and the Feature Film Showcase held in the remarkable 550 seat outdoor Amphitheatre. Plus we've added an Asian Film Showcase and Euro Zone Film Showcase for 2014 and beyond.

GENERAL RULES
OFFICIAL INDIE FEST USA SUBMISSION RULES:
INDIE FEST USA takes place on the Historic Main Street and Village Green Park of beautiful Garden Grove in Southern California!

1) This is the next generation of film festival! Celebrating everything about independent film including the music and arts behind the scenes and the entire independent community we all love.

2) All screening submissions must be region one (1) or region (0) encoded and in NTSC format.

3) Please do not send any promotional materials including press released or postcards. Your film is judged by its quality and your filmmaking abilities, not promotional materials.

4) Please be sure to enter under the correct category (e.g. Feature, Short, Music Video, Underground/Art film, Student film, Foreign film, Comedy, Documentary etc).

5) There are no restrictions on distribution status. There are no requirements or restrictions for premiere status to submit to the festival. We welcome all films and genres. Films with mature content must indicate such on the DVD. Pornography is not permitted under any circumstance; there is a difference between art and pornography.

6) All submission screeners must go through a three (3) stage screening process to qualify for selection. After completing the screening process notification of acceptance will be sent out by email, post or notified by phone. Please do not email the festival for status you will be notified of selection when your film completes the screening submission process.

7) The festival will accept works in progress but the final screener must be received by the festival 10 days prior to the festival should you be selected. Films not received will be disqualified.

8) All films selected and notified by the festival will be sent to the judging panel for consideration of awards. We do not release our list of industry judges in order to prevent unjust influences or favoritism.

9) This is a true competition festival attended by industry and media. We also use audience voting and polling.

10) Due to the large number of submissions the festival only notifies of acceptance by email. We will notify all filmmakers on WAB of their films status using the WAB notification system. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

11) As films are selected they are notified of selection and sent to programming for inclusion into the festival film schedule. Filmmakers are notified in the order of selection and not submission dates. Please be patient as your film goes through our screening process. We are unable to reply to emails asking if your film has been selected or where it is in the screening process.

12) The official exhibition format for the festival is DVD or Blue Ray unless announced otherwise. Any filmmakers wishing to have their film projected in another format other than stated (HD Cam, BetaCam, Digibeta etc.) must provide their own equipment at their expense during their screening, and accept all liability for such use and rental. Filmmaker provided equipment will be removed at the end of their screening and returned to the filmmaker. We can also accept films in digital formats of mp4, mkv, mpeg, and wmv.

13) All entry fees paid are non-refundable.

14) All entered films grant Indie Fest USA a non-exclusive limited use agreement to use film titles or trailers or film posters for festival and film promotional use only including online, print or broadcast media to promote the festival and selected films to the industry and general public. Filmmakers fully retain all rights, title and interest in their films and all intellectual Property.


15) We are unable to do screen or sound tests during the festivals open screening times or between screenings. No filmmakers are permitted in the projection area at any time for your personal safety.

16) Please direct all questions or requests to the festival staff. No one other than official festival staff is authorized to accept requests or make decisions, or provide venue information in regards to INDIE FEST USA.

17) Please under no circumstances what so ever place, post or hand out any promotional materials, flyers, postcards etc. where restricted by signs. Filmmakers will have opportunity to place film posters and materials at the screening venues or at other event locations approved by the festival. Filmmakers violating this rule will be removed from the festival. Keep it fun for everyone and don’t break this rule.

18) All entered films grant Indie Fest USA a non-exclusive limited use agreement to use film titles or trailers or film posters for festival and film promotional use only including online, print or broadcast media to promote the festival and selected films to the industry and general public. Filmmakers fully retain all rights, title and interest in their films and all intellectual Property.

19) Official selection films must provide their final exhibition copy to the festival programming department 10 days prior to the festival. DVD’s or Blue-ray’s must be auto run and have NO trailers, menus or other features.

INDIE FEST USA is hereby granted the right to utilize an excerpt from any film submitted and accepted for exhibition at the Festival for promotional purposes.

The individual or corporation submitting the film hereby warrants that it is authorized to commit the film for screening, and understands and accepts these requirements and regulations.

The undersigned shall indemnify and hold harmless INDIE FEST USA from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney's fees, and costs of the court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, screening, and loss of or damage to the screening videos entered.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

INDIE FEST USA is hereby granted the right to utilize an excerpt from any film submitted and accepted for exhibition at the Festival for promotional purposes. The individual or corporation submitting the film hereby warrants that it is authorized to commit the film for screening, and understands and accepts these requirements and regulations. The undersigned shall indemnify and hold harmless INDIE FEST USA from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney's fees, and costs of the court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, screening, and loss of or damage to the screening videos entered.
