CRIFF Montezuma showcases an incredibly diverse array of short and feature films from across the world. Attendees will enjoy every genre of films, filmmaker discussions, festival cocktail hours, dinners, tours to nearby waterfalls, rivers, islands, and plenty of special events, including some really fun late night parties at the world-famous Chico’s Bar.

There are countless activities to fill your days during the festival. Soak up the sun on the beach, hike through the jungle, enjoy trips to nearby islands, horse-back riding, surfing, snorkeling, scuba diving, ATV tours, zip-line jungle canopy tours, yoga classes, and much, much more.

CRIFF is dedicated to showcasing the brightest filmmakers from every corner of the world. This is truly an international event, where filmmakers from every country come together to meet, discuss their ideas and visions - and showcase their films in paradise.

CRIFF is held in Montezuma, Costa Rica - one of the most beautiful destinations in the entire country.

Montezuma is the perfect destination for a large scale cultural event, and the Costa Rica International Film Festival is a great opportunity for you to experience Costa Rica while showcasing your talent to the world.

As our festival judging committee is located in different parts of the world, we prefer submissions via Withoutabox's Secure Online Screener or another online option. With an online screener, each member of our team can view your work, and can judge your film instantly. You will also save money, time, and help cut down on the waste of packaging material. If you choose to submit hard-copy by postal service, please also include a link, and password if required, to view the film online.

Cat Fisher; Kate Ebner (Director of Communications); Sandy Astudillo (Director)

Entry fees must be in U.S. funds only.

A completed entry and an entry fee must accompany each film or video. Entries via Withoutabox's Secure Online Screeners, or a link to another online source, is preferred.

Cost of shipping exhibition prints to the festival is the responsibility of the entrant. Exhibition copies must be sent to the festival prepaid. The festival cannot accept responsibility for damage or loss of materials while in transit. Please use as little packaging materials as possible when shipping your entry!!

Please enclose a stamped, self-addressed postcard if you wish to receive confirmation that your entry has been received. PLEASE DO NOT ASK FOR SIGNATURE CONFIRMATION, although you may ask for delivery confirmation.

Programming decisions are made by the festival directors and our selection committee. If accepted, we will notify filmmakers by email. After acceptance, the presentational format will need to be in our office one week before the festival. Be sure to indicate aspect ratio of your film/video as well as any other special screening/presentation information we might need to know. We do not pay rental fees for submitted work that is programmed.

Due to the large number of entries received submission materials and videos will not be returned.
