MISSION & OBJECTIVE

To celebrate Italy's history of culture by providing a venue for underserved filmmakers and screenwriters.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

This 5th annual festival is sponsored by the Guild of Italian American Actors (GIAA, see our web site at www.giaa.us), but we welcome submissions on any subject from anyone.

The Festival will be held Saturday November 19 and Sunday November 20 in New York City.

The Festival is composed of a movie section and a screenplay section.

Movies can be submitted in the following categories: (1) fiction; (2) documentary; (3) animation; and (4) music video.

Each of the above categories is split as follows: (1) very short works are those with a total running time of 15 minutes or less; (2) short works are those with a total running time of more than 15 minutes but less than 30 minutes.

Awards will be presented for the best movie in each category. There will also be a $100 cash award for the overall Best Movie in the festival.

GIAA's Audience Favorite Award will be presented to the movie that receives the most votes at each screening. Delicious Italian Gifts is again sponsoring this award, and will provide a basket of Italian goodies for each winner.

Our screenplay competition is limited to scripts with a maximum of 30 pages. The best screenplay will receive a $100 cash award.

Final Draft is again sponsoring the Screenplay Competition; the best screenplay will receive a copy of Final Draft 8.

We will once again present the Italian-American Heritage Award to the movie or screenplay that best exemplifies the Italian immigrant experience.
