MISSION & OBJECTIVE
CineFestival is the longest running Latino film festival in the United States. Held annually in San Antonio, Texas, CineFestival showcases the best and latest in contemporary Latino films and videos. Prizes awarded for Best Narrative, Best Documentary, Best Short Film, and a Special Jury award. Highlights of the festival include workshops, special guests, and a partnership with the Sundance Institute in the hosting of the U.S. Latino Screenwriters Lab.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
The Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center, one of the nation's premier Latino arts institutions, presents the 36th San Antonio CineFestival.

GENERAL RULES
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Eligible entries must have been produced between 2012 to the present, have a Latino/a in an above the line position (Producer, Director, Writer, Starring) and / or relevance to the Chicano / Latino / Indigenous community.

Works must be submitted in final cut form.
For preview and award judging purposes, entries must be submitted by Secure Online Screener (preferred) or on DVD. Each entry must include the following:

Each entry container labeled with:
film title
entrant's name
running time
original format
The title of the work & entrant's name legible on the DVD.

English subtitles for all non-English language entries.

Please include synopsis, publicity stills, press releases, exhibition summary, pdf/jpeg images. If available, also include a film trailer in Quick Time format.

One completed 2014 Official Entry Form for each work submitted. Films not previously screened in San Antonio will receive priority consideration. There is no limit for submissions.

Non-refundable application fee for each submission:
$25 (U.S.) for each feature, documentary, or short entry received by 10/05/12
$15 (U.S.) for each student entry received by 10/04/13
$30 (U.S.) for each feature, documentary, or short entry received by 11/01/13

Domestic entries pay by check (payable to Guadalupe
Cultural Arts Center), money order, Visa, MasterCard
or American Express. International entries must pay with
credit card. Do not send cash.

ENTRIES MUST ARRIVE AT THE GUADALUPE OFFICE BY NOVEMBER 1, 2013. NOT POSTMARKED.

SELECTION PROCESS & AWARDS
The awards jury is made up of filmmakers, film critics, and arts and humanities professionals. Though all entries are previewed, not all are selected for CineFestival.

PREMIO MESQUITE AWARD CATEGORIES
Best Feature
(narrative, animated, 40 minutes and longer)
Best Documentary Film
(40 minutes and longer)
Best Short
(narrative, documentary, animated, experimental under 40 minutes)
Emerging Artist Award
(South Texas high school student filmmaker)

In addition, the awards jury determines which film will receive the 2014 Premio Mesquite Special Jury Award, which best exemplifies the spirit of CineFestival.

Awards Jury decisions are final.

Applicants will receive formal notification of acceptance by January 10, 2014.

EXHIBITION FORMAT
Selections will be shown in original film gauge or video format whenever possible.

Acceptable formats include: Digi-Beta, Blu-Ray, and DVD.

All films and videos in a language other than English must be subtitled in English for festival exhibition.

Selected works in screening format must be received by the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center
by February 3, 2014

SHIPPING INFORMATION
Submissions must be shipped in sturdy, bubble-pack envelopes. Submissions will not be returned. Please do not send original copy.

Entries from outside the United States should be sent Air Mail Registered or by a parcel or express service. Entries shipped via Air Freight will only be accepted if customs and delivery fees have been prepaid.
