MISSION & OBJECTIVE
The IndieFEST is about helping independent filmmakers gain credibility and publicity. The primary goal of traditional film festivals is to bring entertainment to local audiences which makes filmmakers of secondary importance. The IndieFEST is not a traditional film festival, it is an international awards competition. Serving filmmakers is our first and only goal.
ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
The IndieFEST is a showcase for cinematic gems and unique voices. It is a user-friendly competition. Indie awards go to those filmmakers, actors, producers and members of the creative team who create fresh, standout films, television programs, compelling documentaries and new media.
The Indie is a top-tier, international awards competition. Entries come from all over the world including Argentina, Austria, Bangladesh, Belgium, Bermuda, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Malta, Martinique, México, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Romania, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and the United States.
The IndieFEST has seasonal deadlines/judging and grants awards as appropriate within four to six weeks after each deadline. Winners are also promoted via targeted press releases to media outlets, and to the Indie's email database of more than 40,000+ filmmakers and industry insiders.
(The IndieFEST's sister competitions are the Accolade Global Film Competition, www.AccoladeCompetition.org and Best Shorts Competition, www.BestShorts.net. All three competitions have independent judging and judging results from one competition will not influence the outcome of the other.)
Rick Prickett (Competition Coordinator)
Like most award competitions the first level of judging is conducted in-house. Staff is selective. All the entries recommended for Award of Merit and Award of Excellence are carefully screened by the Competition Chairperson. Entries judged to be potential Best of Show winners may be sent to outside judges for additional review. The Chairpersons role is to assure consistency across judging and maintain high standards.
1. Submit online screener or send DVD in NTSC or PAL formats.
2. Label DVD cover with the WAB Tracking ID, filmmaker name and telephone number.
3. Submissions in other than English must be subtitled, dubbed or include an English transcript.
4. Written comments describing entries are invited and helpful during judging.
5. Entries will not be returned.
Note: The IndieFEST Film Awards is not a traditional film festival, it is an international awards competition. Judging results emails will be sent about four to six weeks after the final deadline to all participants, i.e., to those who were granted awards and those who were not granted awards. Free digital downloads of IndieFEST laurels will be made available to all winners. Winners may also order an Indie statuette for an additional cost of $375 per statuette.
