Student Films accepted from current undergraduate or graduate school students and emerging filmmakers up to three years post graduation. Films must be completed in 2012, 2013 or 2014. Please make sure you indicate the name of your school in the Academic section or in the Cover Letter.

Short Documentary [Student]
Student Documentaries accepted from current undergraduate or graduate school students and emerging filmmakers up to three years post graduation and completed in 2012, 2013 or 2014. Make sure you indicate your film school's name if you are submitting a student documentary. List it in the Academic section or in the Cover Letter.

MISSION & OBJECTIVE
American Pavilion Emerging Filmmaker Showcase at Cannes supports upcoming filmmakers by showcasing their films at the American Pavilion during the Cannes Film Festival while providing an opportunity for filmmakers to connect with the Cannes Film Festival, Marketplace attendees and to a global audience.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
Since 1989, The American Pavilion has offered opportunities in Cannes to film students from around the world, including screenings and showcases for emerging filmmakers in attendance. The 2014 Emerging Filmmaker Showcase will be the sixth Juried competition held in The American Pavilion at the Cannes Film Festival. The competition will provide an opportunity for filmmakers to connect with the Cannes Film Festival and Marketplace attendees. Prizes will be awarded to the winning filmmakers.

GENERAL RULES
1. Films accepted for the American Pavilion Emerging Filmmaker Showcase at Cannes will be projected on DVD or Blu-ray at the American Pavilion.
2. Non-English language films must have English subtitles or be dubbed in English.
3. The winning filmmakers might be offered the opportunity to have their films copied onto an American Pavilion compilation DVD that will be submitted to professionals in the film industry.
4. The number of screenings, date, time and location of the screenings of the film are at the discretion of the American Pavilion Emerging Filmmaker Showcase at Cannes.
5. The American Pavilion retains submissions in its film library; if you wish your film or press kit returned, you must send a self-addressed stamped envelope or DVD box.
6. The American Pavilion reserves the right to complete any information not supplied by the filmmaker from whatever source available and will not be responsible if incorrect information is entered. Make sure you include your film synopsis and indicate your film school if your film is a student film on the Academic section on Withoutabox or the Cover Letter.
7. Participation in the American Pavilion Emerging Filmmaker Showcase at Cannes implies understanding and acceptance of all terms included in this application.
8. Attach a photocopy of Student Identification for Student Films and make sure your film school is noted under the Academic section or in the cover letter.


TERMS AND CONDITIONS

The American Pavilion Emerging Filmmaker Showcase at Cannes is hereby granted the right to utilize an excerpt from any film submitted and accepted for exhibition at the Festival for promotional purposes. The individual or corporation submitting the film hereby warrants that it is authorized to commit the film for screening, and understands and accepts these requirements and regulations. The undersigned shall indemnify and hold harmless the American Pavilion Emerging Filmmaker Showcase at Cannes from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney's fees, and costs of the court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, screening, and loss of or damage to the screening videos entered. The finalist filmmakers might be offered the opportunity to have their films copied onto an American Pavilion compilation DVD that will be submitted to professionals in the film industry.
