MISSION & OBJECTIVE
The Docuwest International Film Festival is dedicated to showing insightful, thought provoking, and awe-inspiring documentary films from around the world.
ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
Docuwest International Film Festival - "We have issues."
Docuwest looks to explore the world of our people, our politics, our societies, our history and ourselves through the lens of filmmakers from around the globe. We embrace the idea that cinematic truth revealed in a non-narrative manner can allow the filmmaker to make choices that presents life either surreptitiously or purposely based on the choices they make.
With the ability to more easily capture subjects and events of the world through less expensive forms of production, documentary filmmaking has become an art form whereby the many voices of diverse peoples from around the planet can be heard. Docuwest’s objective is to present our audiences with the stories that are not only astonishing and jarring, but awe-inspiring and thought provoking enough to enable more dialogue and discourse to take place over the people, events or subjects presented in each film. It is our goal to see the DocuWest International Film Festival become the premier documentary film festival in the West.
DocuWest is produced by the Artful Journey School of Fine Arts. The festival is held at the spacious Sie FilmCenter, the ColoRado History museum, and maybe, one or two more as yet unnamed places in Denver, Colorado.
The festival is centered at the Sie FilmCenter in Capital Hill. The area is a vibrant place for filmmakers and attendees to explore the heart of Denver. Filmmakers and attendees can easily walk around Colfax avenue, and hang-out at various locales to drink, eat and discuss the various documentary films shown during the festival. We look forward to receiving your submission to the DocuWest International Film Festival.
