A single documentary program of greater than 20 minutes. Documentary works of less than 20 minutes must be entered into the short film category.

TV Drama Serial
A TV Drama Serial is a series of programs made for television release of over 40 hours in a consecutive12 months period. An entry in this category requires a specific episode to be nominated. The episode entered must have gone to air FOR THE FIRST TIME between July 1 2011 and December 31 2012.

TV Reality / Light Entertainment
Any television production series or standalone production containing a significant element of unscripted dialogue made for light entertainment including musical or variety programs as well as reality/format based television. An entry in this category relating to a reality or light entertainment series requires a specific episode to be nominated. The episode entered must have gone to air FOR THE FIRST TIME between July 1 2011 and December 31 2012.

Esben Storm Award for Best Direction in a Children’s Television (TV) Program
Any fiction or non fiction television series or standalone production made specifically for children is eligible to enter this category. Note that animated programs may choose to enter the animation category instead. If the entry in this category is a Childrens TV series it requires a specific episode to be nominated. The episode entered must have gone to air FOR THE FIRST TIME between July 1 2011 and December 31 2012.

Cross Platform Project
Entry into the Cross Platform Interactive project category will include the interactive enhancement of a production on digital platforms. This can include works produced for the web, mobile phones and games. Authorship and/or copyright ownership must be assured by the entrant.

Original Online Project
Entry into the Original Online Project includes a program or series of programs created specifically for internet audiences. Eligible programs have only been broadcast on the internet and have not been distributed, as is, via cable, satellite or terrestrial systems. Authorship and/or copyright ownership must be assured by the entrant. Works must have been broadcast for the first time between 1 July 2011 and December 31, 2012.

A music video is made with the purpose of promoting complete piece of music/song which accompanies it.

The Student category is for a production of any length or format made by full time or part time student.

TV Mini-series
A series of drama programs made for television broadcast which total no more than 7 hours in length which screen in a consecutive period (e.g. weekly or daily). An entry in this category requires the entrant to submit one or two episodes to be judged as a single entry. The episode/s entered must have gone to air for the first time between July 1st, 2011 and December 31st, 2012.

The ADG Awards celebrate the work of Australian directors, across feature film, documentary, television, tvc, short film, animation, new digital media and music video.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
The annual Australian Directors Guild Awards are the only peer-judged awards for directors. These prestigious Awards cover the breadth of screen directing, with categories across film, television and online.

About the Australian Directors Guild Awards
The ADG Awards were established in order to celebrate the outstanding achievements and contribution by Australian Directors in the fields of film, television and new media platforms.

Eligibility
1. To be eligible for the 2013 ADG Awards the Director must be a member of the ADG or they may join the Guild when entering the awards. ADG members must be financial as at the date of nomination.

2. Full members may nominate themselves or nominate other ADG members in any category.

3. Associate, Student, institutional or corporate members may only nominate themselves or nominate other members in the categories of TVC, Short Film, Animation, Music Clip, Student, Cross Platform and Original Online Program categories.

4. Except for student works, only works publicly screened for the first time between July 1, 2011 and December 31, 2012 are eligible for entry in the 2013 ADG Awards.

5. Student works need to have been completed between July 1, 2011 and December 31, 2012 to be eligible for entry in the 2013 ADG Awards.

6. Members may enter multiple eligible works. Each work will be considered separately and on its own.

7. A work may not be entered into more than one category.

8. If more than one category may be applied to an entry, the onus is on the entrant to submit to the category that they feel is best fit.

10. To be considered a television mini series, a production must have completed a maximum of seven hours.

11. Entries for a Television Series or serial should be limited to one episode per director from each specific production. Only individual episodes of a television series are to be nominated, not the complete series. Only episodes screened for the first time between July 1, 2011 and December 31, 2012, are eligible for entry.

12. A television series is one that has been screened for no more than 24 hours over a consecutive 12-month period. The episode being entered needs to have screened between the above dates.

13. A television drama serial is one that has screened for more than 40 hours for a consecutive 12 months period between the dates of July 1, 2011 and December 31, 2012.

14. Documentary Stand Alone works that are less than 20 minutes should be entered in the Short Film category.

15. Feature length Animation works will be eligible in the Feature category and/or in the Animation category.

16. Short Film works will be a maximum duration of 45 minutes.

17. Cross Platform includes works produced for the web, mobile phones and games created to promote a production. Authorship and/or copyright ownership must be assured by the entrant.

18. Original Online Programs have only been broadcast on the internet and have not been distributed, as is, via cable, satellite, or terrestrial systems. Authorship and/or copyright ownership must be assured by the entrant.

19. Entries into the student category need to be either by student members or with proof of a recent student card.

20. Where there is more than one Director, eligibility with respect to role and responsibility will be assessed on a case by case basis.

21. The ADG Events Committee reserves the right to determine which submissions qualify in all categories. Requested variations to category eligibility may be considered in exceptional circumstances.

22. Once a production has been accepted as a valid entry to the ADG Awards, it is ineligible to be re-submitted to the Awards in future years.

23: Wherever possible ADG members will be given the first opportunity to participate as judges. Directors deemed most appropriate for experience and merit in their applicable genre or category are approached to judge the ADG awards.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Terms and conditions 1. The Entrant warrants that the production is eligible to be entered in accordance with the ADG Awards Rules as contained herein. 2. Nominees must have received an on-screen credit as director of the production entered OR, in the case of productions where on-screen credits are not given (eg. television commercials, interactive media), provide verification that the nominee was the director. 3. The Events Committee shall ensure that the copyright holder of each nominated production completes an Authorisation of Copyright Holder Form allowing clips of the nominated productions to be made and shown at the ADG Awards event and in publicity and media coverage. 4. In any case in which the ADG determines that the information provided by the Entrant is inaccurate or incomplete and the production is therefore incorrectly entered, the ADG reserves the right to declare the production ineligible to be submitted for nominations for any ADG Award. 5. The ADG may, at its sole discretion, determine that no Awards be given in any category in any year subject to insufficient quantity or quality of entries. 6. Any decision of the ADG Awards Committee or the ADG Board in relation to all matters relating to the ADG Awards, including in relation to entry, eligibility, nominations, appeals and/or election of any production for an Award shall be final. 7. The ADG may amend or modify these rules, and any others rules, decisions, rulings or guidelines connected with the ADG Awards at its sole discretion. 8. The copyright holder grants the ADG the right to make sufficient copies of each entry for distribution to the Awards Jury for viewing by ADG members for the purpose of evaluation of a production in connection with these awards. 9. The copyright holder acknowledges that the ADG will retain a copy of each entry for its archives. If the entrant requires the other three copies to be returned, a stamped addressed envelope must be supplied. Alternatively, copies may be picked up from the ADG Office. 10. The copyright holder grants to the ADG the right to transfer, at any time, a copy of the Award-winning program to a volume storage device such as CD-ROM, for purposes of archival storage, such right not to be withdrawn. 11. The Entrant and all individuals submitted for consideration herein release the ADG and its officers, directors, Awards Committee members, Awards Judges/Jury members, employees, representatives and agents from all liability however arising (including, without limitation, for any incidental and consequential damages or loss of profits) in respect of the conduct of the ADG Awards and all associated activities, including, without limitation, for any negligence or omission in the processing of the Entry or in its consideration for an Award, howsoever caused. The Voting Process 1. Awards entries are received by the Events team through the Withoutabox entry system. The entry is catalogued by Withoutabox but further administration may be needed by a member of the ADG office. 2. The Events Committee verifies all entries received and determines eligibility. Eligible entries are forwarded to the Awards Judges in their respective categories. 3. The Awards Judges in each category comprise of directors who are members of the ADG or in some cases other organisations and have relevant experience to the category. Each entry will be viewed and assessed by a panel comprising no less than three judges. 4. Awards Judges must excuse themselves from judging in any category in which an entry has been received with which they were associated in any way or have any conflict of interest. 5. The Awards Committee reserves the right to collapse or combine categories due to insufficient numbers of entries. 6. The winners’ names will be kept secret until announced at the ADG Awards gala evening in May 2013. Trophies, Awards & Certificates 1. Only the director of any winning production will be presented with an awards statue. 2.
