U.S. Narrative Feature Films
Any narrative work of fiction with a running time of at least 50 minutes. In order to qualify as a U.S. Narrative Feature Film, the submitted project must be either scripted or improvisational fiction. No premiere status is required. Films must have been completed after January 2012.
U.S. Documentary Feature Films
Any non-fiction film with a running time of at least 50 minutes, NOT including entirely scripted or improvised fictionalizations of actual events. If your documentary contains limited dramatization of actual events, you may submit in this category, but we will ultimately decide which program is best suited for your project, if accepted. No premiere status is required. Films must have been completed after January 2012.
International Narrative Feature Films
Any narrative work of fiction with a running time of at least 50 minutes. In order to qualify as an International Narrative Feature Film, the submitted project must be either scripted or improvisational fiction, and production must have occurred outside of the United States. No premiere status is required. Films must have been completed after January 2012.
International Documentary Feature Films
Any non-fiction film with a running time of at least 50 minutes, NOT including entirely scripted or improvised fictionalizations of actual events. If your documentary contains limited dramatization of actual events, you may submit in this category, but we will ultimately decide which program is best suited for your project, if accepted. In order to qualify as an International Documentary Feature Film, the film must be unscripted and production must have occurred outside of the United States. No premiere status is required. U.S. Short Films
Any narrative or documentary film of U.S. origin with a running time of 49 minutes or less. No premiere status is required. Films must have been completed after January 2012.
International Short Films
Any narrative or documentary film of international origin with a running time of 49 minutes or less. In order to qualify as an International Short Film, production must have occurred outside of the United States. No premiere status is required. Films must have been completed after January 2012.
Animated Films
Any animated film in any style of animation from any country of origin with a running time of any length. No premiere status is required. Films must have been completed after January 2011.
Family Fare
Any live action or animation of any length from any country that celebrates the whole family coming together to enjoy and share the movie-going experience. Any subject matter considered. All films should be appropriate for general audiences. No premiere status is required. Films must have been completed after January 2011.
Student Films
Any U.S. or International narrative or documentary film of any length. Proof of school enrollment is required. No premiere status is required. Films must have been completed after January 2012.
Music Videos
Any film or video in sync to music from any country of origin with a running time of less than 8 minutes. No premiere status is required. Music Videos do not have a completion requirement.
Screenplays
Any feature-length, English-language, narrative screenplay of any genre.
Commercials
Any film or video that sells a product or service from any country of origin with a running time of less than 5 minutes. This category also includes Public Service Announcements (PSA) which promotes public awareness. Commercials have no premiere or completion requirements.
Soundtracks
A film or video music soundtrack from any category of film or video. Sample selection(s) should be less than 20 minutes. There is no completion requirement.

WILLiFEST spotlights independent filmmakers from around the world. We encourage you to submit your work and join us in New York City for a professional, fun-filled festival of screenings, panels, concerts, networking opportunities, after-parties and more.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
The Williamsburg International Film Festival, voted top 20 coolest film festival by MovieMaker Magazine, is the film component of WILLiFEST. WILLiFEST was established to provide a platform for the creative visions of today's emerging artists of all disciplines. The film festival is an opportunity for filmmakers to enhance their careers by exposing their projects to a powerful audience, gaining crucial media exposure and strengthening industry relationships.

In addition to red carpet premieres, the festival features several film competitions in a multitude of categories. A Screenplay competition rounds out the offerings. The closing day award ceremony honors award winners in each category.

At WILLiFEST, we pride ourselves on elevating the filmmaker's experience. This festival was created for the artist, by artists, and we look forward to taking you, your film, music video or screenplay to the next level.

GENERAL RULES
PLEASE CAREFULLY READ THESE FESTIVAL RULES.

Each submitted film must be accompanied by the appropriate fee. Please write the title of the film on all checks or money orders. Entries can be submitted as a Secure Online Screener (SOS) or on DVD (NTSC Region 0 or 1). International films can be submitted on NTSC or PAL Region 0 (Region-free) DVDs. DVD screeners should be straight-play DVDs with only your film and no menus. WE WILL NOT ACCEPT WATERMARKED DVDS. We have a system in place to protect your film. Please send a clean, non-watermarked copy of your film(s). We accept works-in-progress. Screener DVD must be labeled with title, running time, entrant's name and WAB ID# on the disc face with permanent marker. DVD screeners should be viewed for playback quality before mailing in. Please DO NOT use paper labels. Venues will not hang posters so please do not mail them to us, but you may bring postcards to distribute in area venues. No marketing materials will be returned by Festival.

Foreign language work must be subtitled in English. Music Videos, Commercials and Soundtracks do not have a completion date requirement. Student Films are projects completed by filmmakers when they were enrolled in a school. Students must include a copy of your school ID.

WILLiFEST is an HD projection festival utilizing the latest file-based server technology. We do not project from videotape and request exhibition copies of films to be submitted online through file transfer sites like Dropbox or Wetransfer.com or through the mail on a disc as an HD file or alternatively, a DVD or Bluray Disc. The preferred formats are .H264 or .MP4. We DO NOT accept files in the Apple Pro-Res format.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1. I, the representative of the project being submitted (the "Film"), acknowledge and agree as follows in connection with the Film's submittal to WILLIFEST INC. (the "Company") for consideration for the Williamsburg International Film Festival (the "Festival"): 2. I hereby represent and warrant to the Festival that (a) I am duly authorized, on my own behalf and on behalf of all other persons or entities who have any ownership rights in the Film, to exhibit this Film at the Festival, (b) this exhibition will not violate any law or any right or consent of any person or entity and (c) the Film is not subject to litigation nor is it threatened by any litigation. 3. I further represent and warrant that, to the best of my knowledge, the exhibition of the Film at the Festival will not violate or infringe any copyright, patent, privacy right, publicity right, trademark, service mark or any other personal or property right of any person or entity and that my Film does not constitute a defamation of any person or entity. I have paid and will pay in full all license fees, clearance fees, and other obligations, of any kind, arising from the exhibition of the Film in connection with the Festival. 4. If accepted, I acknowledge that the Festival's presentation of the Film does not create any confidential or fiduciary relationship between the Festival and I. I understand that I will not receive any compensation for such usage. I acknowledge that no obligation of any kind is assumed by or may be implied against the Festival or the Company because of the Festival's selection of the Film. I understand and acknowledge that the selection of my Film by the Festival does not in any way constitute an express or implied endorsement or approval by the Festival or the Company of the content of the Film or any opinion expressed therein. 5. I agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Company, the Festival, affiliate, subsidiary and parent entities of each, and the officers, directors, employees, sponsors, partners, attorneys, advisors and agents of each of the foregoing from and against any and all claims, losses, or liabilities (including reasonable attorneys' fees) that may be asserted against any of the foregoing or incurred by any of the foregoing at any time in connection with the Film or the Festival's use thereof, and/or arising from any breach or alleged breach of any representation made by me to the Company or the Festival. Offerings, awards and prizes may change or be eliminated at any time due to consequences beyond the Festival's control and the Festival will do its best to substitute a fair replacement, if possible. 6. In the event that the Film is accepted into the official Festival program, myself and all other parties involved with the Film agree that the Film will not associate with nor receive support from corporations during or related to the Film's participation in the Festival that are not official sponsors or supporters of the Festival without prior written consent of the Company. Methods of support include: hosting a dinner, party or junket for or in conjunction with the Film, providing media space for roundtable or one-on-one interviews, etc. The Company relies on the funding of our official sponsors and supporters to produce the Festival. For an official list of sponsors and partners, please refer to the Sponsors page on our website. If you have been approached by a company or corporation that does not appear on this list, they are NOT officially aligned with the Williamsburg International Film Festival. 7. If accepted, I hereby grant without reservations, to the Company, the Festival, and their related entities (a) the right to use footage, stills and/or titles, and information from the Film for promotional purposes and (b) the right to issue and authorize publicity concerning the filmmakers and the Film and to use all associated names, likenesses and biographical information. I also agree to provide contact information for the director and producer(s) of the Film and grant the Festival the right to provide this information to film industry organizations sponsoring Festival events at its discretion. 8. I represent that I am 18 years of age or older, or that if I am younger than the legal age to enter into contracts in my state, I have provided a written consent from my parent or legal guardian. I agree that any controversy arising out of or in connection with my Film and the Festival will be governed by the internal laws of the State of New York and conclusively determined by arbitration in the City of New York in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association before a single arbitrator mutually agreed upon by the parties. I hereby waive any and all rights and benefits which I might otherwise have or be entitled to litigate any such dispute in court, including without limitation a trial by jury. 9. I acknowledge that I have read and understood the rules and regulations explained herein for submitting to the Festival. 10. By clicking "I Agree" below, I constitute my full and complete acceptance of the terms hereof. I acknowledge that no oral representations of any kind have been made by the Company or the Festival.
