MISSION & OBJECTIVE

Queens World Film Festival discovers exciting and innovative films from around the world and around the corner and shares them with an extremely supportive, loyal and enthusiastic audience.

Located in the most diverse community on the planet that boasts 165 nationalities, we are especially interested in maverick filmmakers of any sex, orientation, ethnicity, country or region. We have an audience for your film here in the 'World's Borough"

For us, the festival is all about heart. guts, commitment and ultimately endurance, so we LOVE a film that has a point of view and doesn't back off. It is a dynamic time on our planet and we are interested in the currently relevant as well as the enduring themes including:
Borders
What is funny?
Spiritual vs Religious
Civil/Human Rights
Understanding the 'other'
Gender
Climate
The twists that bind our families
Love and all it's messy, gooey, wonderful foibles
Coming together and blowing apart
Who are we to each other?
The horror

So take a stand. Show us something you believe in. As storytellers, as those who hold the mirror up to show us who we are, now is not the time to back off. Bring on your craft and your heart let's see what you got. Bring it.

We are expanding our run from 6 days to 2 weeks to give films two screenings at either the prestigious Museum of the Moving Image or next door at the historic Kaufman Astoria Studios. With strong political and community support QWFF will build community around you and your work with numerous pre-festival events, extensive press coverage and targeted outreach.

We program the festival in thematic blocks with provocative titles grouping complimentary films together to create a specific and unique cinematic experience. Every BLOCK has a title, a theme, a moderator, a facebook event page and a Q&A.

And most importantly: An Audience.

You have the opportunity to enter any festival, there are thousands out there. When you choose us, we don't take that lightly. We will give your film all of our attention in the screening process. If selected, you will be invited to the annual Festival Kick-Off event, the Press Conference at MoMI, the all hands on deck Trailer Party, publicity stunts, flash mobs, TV and radio interviews.

We look forward to seeing your work and we have reduced the fees. It's just the right thing to do. We wanted to be more accessible and level the playing field

And finally, if your film is selected, we will do everything we can to develop the perfect screening experience for you AND your work.

Peace.
