MISSION & OBJECTIVE
The mission of Borrego Springs Film Festival is to bring filmmakers and film fans to our unique and beautiful desert region, and to provide an environment where quality independent films that stimulate heart and mind will be screened, discussed, and enjoyed. We strive to expose audiences to the artistry, issues, and perspectives in current independent film by providing quality, well-attended events where filmmakers can exhibit their work, engage in networking, and have a great experience.
ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
Borrego Springs Film Festival occurs in a small desert resort town an easy drive from Los Angeles, Palm Springs, and San Diego. It is surrounded by the 640,000 acres of Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, which includes desert, dunes, mountains, and beautiful vistas. This natural beauty has long attracted tourists and filmmakers and explains the area's strong historical connection to films and Hollywood. The earliest feature was filmed here in the 1920's and over 60 films have been shot here since. Film industry personalities come to Borrego Springs to live, work, and play. We welcome your creative energy to our film festival and invite you to join us in building a tradition celebrating innovative film making.
The 2016 Borrego Springs Film Festival will occur January 14-18 and will showcase Narrative, Documentary, Animation, and Latino features and shorts. Films will be screened at the 180-seat Borrego Springs Performing Arts Center where capacity or near-capacity audiences can be anticipated for every film screening. Networking events and parties will occur at various local resorts throughout the weekend. Awards will be presented in each major category as well as a People’s Choice Award.

Entrant confirms and warrants required legal authority to submit the entry into the festival and to use all music, images, and content in the entry.
Submission fees will be waived for any film in which all or part was shot in Borrego Springs, Anza Borrego Desert State Park, Ocotillo Wells SVRA, or on or near the Salton Sea. Email email@example.com to request waiver by providing location details.
If your film is accepted, you must be able to provide a minimum 300dpi and high quality film still.
The 3-line synopsis you submit when filling out your application will be used in the festival guide, on the BSFF website, and for other promotions. BSFF reserves the right to edit the synopsis for length and grammar.
More than one entry may be submitted. However, each entry must be submitted as a new film with a separate online entry form, a unique registration number, an additional entry fee, and on a separate DVD, if mailed in rather than uploaded.
If your film is selected to be part of BSFF 2016, you will be notified via email on or about November 15, 2015. You will also be notified by email if your film is not selected. Please make sure that you notify us if email changes, and add firstname.lastname@example.org to your safe sender email list.
Unfortunately we are unable to respond with any feedback or explanations if your film is not accepted. The need for additional editing is the most common factor making the difference between a film that is selected and a film that is not. But we also receive many more worthy films than we have programming space to screen, so don’t be discouraged if your film is not accepted.
Exhibition Film Requirements
Films selected for BSFF 2016 will be asked to submit an exhibition copy as a full resolution QuickTime file (pro-res 422 is best). The exhibition copy of film must be received no later than December 15, 2015. Exhibition copies will not be returned unless filmmaker includes a pre-paid envelope or makes other shipping arrangements.
