Short Screenplays (20 pages or less)
Screenplays must be twenty pages or less and must have been written in the past twelve months. Only drama and/or comedy genres are considered.

MISSION & OBJECTIVE
Burleighfest awards excellence in short screenwriting.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
Burleighfest is a short screenplay competition based in Perth, Western Australia. It is open to all screenwriters worldwide.

Screenplays must be no more than twenty pages and must have been written in the past twelve months. Screenplay genre must be drama and/or comedy.

Screenwriters retain all rights to their work. In December, finalist screenplays are published in book form, with the screenwriters' permission. Books will be made available for sale and distributed to libraries across Australia.

Burleighfest is a not-for-profit competition founded by Perth auteur, Burleigh Smith.



GENERAL RULES
1. Entry into this competition confirms each entrant’s acceptance of these rules and regulations.
2. Screenplays are limited to twenty pages or less.
3. Screenplays must be drama and/or comedy. Other genres are not accepted.
4. Screenplays must be formatted correctly. Incorrectly-formatted screenplays will not be considered. A cover page must be included.
5. Screenplays must have been written in the past twelve months.
6. Entry is open to screenwriters all over the world but screenplays must be in English.
7. Screenplays must be original. While they may be inspired by other sources, they cannot be based directly on any material previously produced or published, such as a novel adaptation.
8. Screenplays may be produced.
9. If multiple screenwriters are involved, all must consent to entering the competition. All must be listed on the cover page.
10. Screenplays cannot be withdrawn once entered.
11. Screenplays must be submitted as PDF files.
12. Burleighfest will not be liable for any damages.
13. It is recommended screenplays are registered with the Writers' Guild prior to submission.
14. Entrants retain all rights to their screenplays.
15. With the screenwriter's permission, a collection of finalist screenplays will be published in book form. These will be made available for sale and distributed to libraries across Australia.
16. The judge's decision is final and feedback cannot be provided.
