MISSION & OBJECTIVE
Brooklyn Girl Film Festival seeks to empower women filmmakers from around the globe, and honor their unique and relevant interpretation of the world around them. We strive to strengthen the community of women in the film industry.
ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
The 4th Annual Brooklyn Girl Film Festival will take place in Brooklyn New York, March 26-28, 2015. We are an intimate festival that puts our filmmakers first. The thriving artist community in Brooklyn is very supportive of us.
Women Filmmakers whose films completed post production after June 1, 2013 are welcome to submit. A woman must serve in the role of Writer, Director, or Lead Animator in the film.
All screenings include a Q&A with the filmmakers. Past festivals have included discussions, workshops, catered opening reception, filmmaker brunches and dinners, raffles, and an awards ceremony. We present an Audience Choice Award to the best feature film and the best short film as voted on by the audience.
Here is what some of our filmmakers have said about our 2014 event:
I just wanted to thank you again for the wonderful weekend! It was such an honor to have our world premiere at the BGFF. It was so great meeting you and so many other talented, intelligent and fun women in the industry. Looking forward to next year! – Bianca Jamotte, Writer, Twinkle
Brooklyn Girl Film Festival is by far the best organized and well run festival I’ve experienced. Great communication, great exposure for the filmmakers involved, and quality work represented. Such a positive experience. I applaud your efforts to promote women in the industry – it’s important that our voices are heard. Thank you Brooklyn Girl! I will definitely enter again next year! – Lisa Jay, Writer/Director, An Alien Fairytale
Thank you for selecting “A Cool Dark Place” for the festival. We had a great time last night meeting the filmmakers and experiencing the screening in Brooklyn. The BKGFF team was top notch and the films were very entertaining. It’s a great thing you are doing not only for women in film but for film in general. Keep it up!- James Howell, Executive Producer, Peregrine Films
