Calling All Filmmakers!

SnagFilms, an innovative leader in digital distribution for independent films, is committed to finding the world’s most compelling movies, whether from established heavyweights or first-time filmmakers.

SnagFilms partners with filmmakers seeking online distribution, with the goal of distributing their films across the digital space as far and as wide as possible, including by free and paid video-on-demand and by emerging platforms (such as iPad, Roku, Boxee, DirectTV, Microsoft XBox, Samsung's Media Hub and more).

SnagFilms.com is a website where you can watch full-length films for free. Our rapidly growing library of thousands of films, each individually selected by our industry-expert curators includes titles from major studios such as Lionsgate, alongside films from first-time filmmakers.

We are bringing these great films to audiences everywhere through distribution partners large and small – look for our logo around the web as your indication of highest quality professional filmmaking. We are also taking our films to a full array of devices (check out our free iPad, Roku and Boxee applications, for example) and a range of platforms including cable VOD and iTunes, so our extensive library continues to be easily accessible for audiences anywhere, any time.

We also strongly believe in the power of “filmanthropy,” using film as a way to inspire awareness and social change. If your film champions a specific cause, we want to point our engaged audience to an organization that supports those efforts. Check out our current projects on our filmanthropy page to learn more.

SnagFilms is also the parent company of indieWIRE, the web’s top source of news, reviews and information about independent film for more than 15 years. IndieWIRE combines a tradition of journalistic excellence with minute-to-minute breaking news coverage.

By combining SnagFilms' innovative platform of free films, widget sharing and filmanthropy, additional availability via devices and transactional platforms, and indieWIRE's iconic heritage, we are proud to support and strengthen the independent film community.

We welcome films with a diversity of styles, subject matter and points of view to join our ever-expanding library. We're interested in both well-known titles and little-known gems.

If your film was included in another film festival, we will make every effort to fast-track your submission.

To be suitable for consideration, any film must meet the following criteria:

* The film must be a non-fiction/documentary or a fiction/narrative independent feature.

* The film must not include hate speech, excessive violence, slanderous or libelous claims, or any other actionable offenses.

* The film must not be in the public domain, and must be validly registered for copyright.

* The film must not (i) infringe any rights of publicity or privacy, moral rights or IP rights, including any music-related rights, (ii) be defamatory or indecent, and (iii) violate any applicable laws.

In addition:

* You must have the authority to submit the film for our consideration.

* You must have obtained all the necessary rights (including music rights), consents, authorizations and licenses covering the film.

* There must not be pending or anticipated litigation regarding the film.

NOTE: Submitted copies of films will not be returned regardless of acceptance status.

Due to the extremely high volume of entries received, our standard review time is now sixty (60) days from completed submission. We thank you for your patience during this process and will get back to you as soon as we can.

SnagFilms can be summed up in four words: Find. Watch. Snag. Support.

Whether using our custom search tools, browsing by topic, or tuning into one of the great channels provided by our partners, with a few clicks you’ll be able to find what you’re looking for.

By streaming films worldwide, on-demand, 24x7, and with no software installation or downloading required, we have radically expanded the audience for independent films. All you need is a decent broadband connection. Just click play, go full-screen, and lean back and enjoy our films. And special collections of newly released titles are available on our channels on Comcast and Verizon FiOS VOD, as well as on iTunes.

Our “widgets” let you take your favorite SnagFilms with you wherever you like to go online. Open a virtual movie theater right in your webpage, blog, Facebook or MySpace page, or just about any other place online you can think of.

At their best, documentaries don’t merely entertain us; they engage and inspire us to take action. We provide a link for you on each film page to get involved with the film's cause - whether by donating or finding a place to volunteer - enabling you to take part immediately. And just by embedding our widgets, you’ve donated your pixels and helped support independent film.

If you’re a filmmaker, producer, or a distributor with documentaries in need of distribution, please reach out to submissions@snagfilms.com.

Entrants warrant that they have the legal right, license and authority to submit films to SnagFilms for consideration. Entrants represent and warrant to SnagFilms, with respect to any and all submitted films, that (i) each film and all parts thereof are original; (ii) each film does not conflict with the intellectual property or other rights of any person or entity; (iii) entrants own or control each film and all parts thereof and have the sole authority to submit each film to SnagFilms; and each film is not subject to nor threatened by any litigation. Entrants acknowledge that no fiduciary or confidential relationship now exists between SnagFilms and entrants, and entrants further acknowledge that no such relationship is established by these terms and conditions, by submission of the film, or by SnagFilms’s acceptance, review or retention of the film. Entrants acknowledge that the film is being submitted to SnagFilms voluntarily and without promise or inducement for its consideration only, and that the submission of the film neither imposes nor creates any obligation or responsibility on the part of SnagFilms to accept the film for distribution, to distribute the film, to acknowledge the submission of the film, or to return the film. Entrants agree that, in submitting the film for consideration, they are waiving and relinquishing any right to assert any claim or commence any proceeding in any forum or tribunal against SnagFilms, based upon, arising out of or otherwise relating to the submission of the film or SnagFilms’s failure to distribute the film.
