The Maine International Film Festival offers audiences and participants an opportunity to see and discuss films that would otherwise never be seen in the state of Maine.

Held annually in July, MIFF is a 10-day event that features nearly 100 of the best American independent, international and Maine-made films at two venues (total of 4 screens), Railroad Square Cinema and the historic Waterville Opera House. MIFF provides audiences with the opportunity to interact with visiting filmmakers, actors, producers, and other film industry representatives through intimate Q & As, lively receptions, panel discussions, and other special events. Past guests have included Gabriel Byrne, Robert Benton, Michael Murphy, Glenn Close, Keith Carradine, Thelma Schoonmaker, Malcolm McDowell, John Turturro, Terrence Malick, Sissy Spacek, Jonathan Demme, Ed Harris, Peter Fonda, Richard Russo, Lili Taylor, Jay Cocks, Verna Bloom, Campbell Scott, Bud Cort, Karen Young, Lauren Hutton, Dominique Sanda, and many others.

Jessica Shoudy (Associate Programmer); Ken Eisen (Programming Director); Mike Perreault (Festival Director)

MIFF is primarily seeking feature-length films in 35mm and digital formats; however, shorter works will also be considered. Special consideration will be given to films that were shot in Maine or that have a significant Maine theme or focus. MIFF will not accept films that have been theatrically released prior to the start of the festival or have been publicly exhibited in the state of Maine in any way (including film festivals, television transmissions, and one-off events).

Films in any language are eligible, but should be subtitled if not in English.

MIFF is hereby granted the right to utilize an excerpt from any film submitted and accepted for exhibition at the Festival for promotional purposes.

The individual or corporation submitting the film hereby warrants that it is authorized to commit the film for screening, and understands and accepts these requirements and regulations.

The undersigned shall indemnify and hold harmless MIFF from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney's fees, and costs of the court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, screening, and loss of or damage to the screening videos entered.
