The Birdcage, Priscilla Queen of the Dessert. These films made us laugh. Comedies are the films that cause us to laugh until we cry
Documentary
Bi the Way, For The Bible Tells Me So; all of these films showcased the lives of the LGBT community.
Short
Shorts are unique, and succinct illustrations of a complex LGBT story.
Feature Film Screenplay
Screenplays are the groundwork for all film. Girl's Don't Cry, Milk, Brokeback Mountain; all of these films began with incredible screenplays.

When you submit your screenplay or teleplay for the competition, you will be given two additional feedback options for an additional charge.

• Judge’s scorecard.
Any and all scorecards completed by our judges at every level of the competition as they pertain to your work submission.

• Multi-point Script Coverage.
Detailed analysis of your submitted work considering but not limited to these areas:

story idea
technical aspects
plot structure
sub-plots
characterization
dialogue
descriptions
action
emotional impact
marketability

Suggestions for improvement and ideas for increasing its appeal to prospective buyers.

Provided by members of the San Antonio Screenwriters Guild which include award winning screenwriters, writers whose work has been optioned and/or produced in the USA and throughout the world.

MISSION & OBJECTIVE
The San Antonio LGBT International Film Festival is committed to bringing awareness of the LGBTQ community to the greater San Antonio region. To achieve this goal the festival will showcase filmic pieces of art. These pieces of art will illustrate the community by being created and/or about the LGBTQ community.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
The San Antonio LGBT International Film Festival is a film festival in San Antonio, Texas that donates all proceeds to different organizations that support the LGBT community of San Antonio. The festival is endorsed by Farris Family Film and Photography, Fiska Films, and the San Antonio Screen Writers Guild.


GENERAL RULES
1. No obscene/pornagraphic films will be accepted.
Obscene is defined as:
(a) whether 'the average person, applying contemporary community standards would find that the work, taken as a whole, appeals to the prurient interest, (b) whether the work depicts or describes, in a patently offensive way, sexual conduct specifically defined by the applicable state law; and (c) whether the work, taken as a whole, lacks serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value.

The judges of the festival will have final say in interpreting whether a work is obscene/pornagraphic or not.

2. Films should meet one of the two following criteria:

• Have at least one of the cast/crew as a member of the LGBT community, regardless of genre or subject matter of the script.

• If none of the cast/crew are members of the LGBT community then the film should be of LGBT interest in regard to genre or subject matter OR depict LGBT characters.

3. Feature film entries should be at least 40 minutes. Short films should be more than 40 minutes.

4. Digital submission through withoutabox is preferred, however a DVD, or blu-ray submission is acceptable.

5. Submissions must be subtitled, or translated to, the English language.

7. Films should not have been sold, or be under anyone's ownership beside the submitter . Films that have negotiations pending and/or are sold before the competition ends are not eligible for competition.

8. You may enter more than one film, but you must submit them separately and pay separate entry fees.

9. Films should be copyrighted with the Library of Congress. It is the responsibility of the filmmaker to ensure that their work is protected.

10. All payments must be in U.S. Dollars and must be paid online through the WAB payment system; except in the case of hard copy submissions where payment must be included with submission.

11. Entrants retain all rights to their films.

12. Entries will not be returned. Be sure to retain a copy of all material submitted.

13. Once a film has been entered into competition, we will not accept substitutions or revisions. If you wish to submit a revised version of your film, you must enter it as a new submission.

14. By entering this contest, you represent that your entry is your original work, and does not infringe on the copyright or other rights of other people.

15. Entrants must fully comply with these General Entry Rules & Regulations, including deadline(s) and entry format requirements.

16. Entry fees are non-refundable.

17. The decisions of the judges are final.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

By submitting this film, you are responsible for the film submitted with this application, and by submitting said film to The San Antonio LGBT International Film Festival (the "SALGBTIFF") you hereby represent, warrant and agree to the following: 1. I hereby represent, warrant, and agree that the film is not currently subject to, and will not in the future become subject to, any distribution agreement or other obligation that would prevent it from being exhibited at the SALGBTIFF (provided that it is accepted into the SALGBTIFF). 2. I have carefully read and understood and will comply with all rules, regulations and eligibility requirements of the SALGBTIFF, all of which are incorporated herein by reference. 3. I represent and warrant that: (a) I have the full right and power to make and perform this Agreement without the consent of any third party (or, if the consent of other parties is required, all of them are also signing this Agreement); (b) the film does not violate any copyright, trademark or other intellectual property right of any person or entity, and will not constitute a libel or slander of any person or entity or defame or disparage any person or entity or infringe upon or violate the rights of privacy, reputation, publicity, intellectual property and/or any other rights of any kind or nature of any person or entity; and (c) the film is not the subject of litigation or any claim that might give rise to litigation. 4. I hold the SALGBTIFF harmless from damage to or loss of the print en route or otherwise during the course of the festival's possession of the film; and agree to provide the festival a print of the film at my own risk and/or provide my own insurance to cover loss and/or damage of the print. Further, I agree to indemnify and hold harmless the SALGBTIFF and its affiliates from and against any liability, claim, cost, damage, or expense arising out of or in connection with any breach by me of this Submission Agreement. 5. (Competition Entries only) Should this film win an award Best Picture, Audience Choice or any other award at the festival, I am authorized and/or empowered by all parties legally representing this film to receive all cash prizes and awards. 6. I understand and agree that acceptance of my film does not guarantee airline or hotel accommodations for talent, production crew, or any other parties. 7. I agree that all materials will be sent prepaid and understand and agree that neither fees, submission videos nor any other materials will be returned whether or not my film is accepted (except as set forth in clause 9 below). 8. I understand and agree that if my film is accepted, the Q Fest agrees to pay shipping costs only for the one-way return shipment of the print when leaving San Antonio after its last festival screening. 9. I understand and agree that the number of screenings, days and venue (if any) is at the sole discretion of the SALGBTIFF. 10. If the SALGBTIFF accepts my film, I agree that the SALGBTIFF may use DVD or Blu-ray discs for press reviews and will not be obligated to conduct any separate theatrical screenings for members of the press. 11. I understand and agree that all information received on the application may be utilized in the program guide and the website. Any corrections must be received in writing by January 6, 2014. Changes will not be made after January 6, 2014. The SALGBTIFF will not be liable for any errors or omissions in the program guide or the website. 12. I acknowledge and agree that in the event of any breach by me of this Submission Agreement, the harm to the SALGBTIFF would not be adequately compensated for in damages and, therefore, in the event of any such breach, the SALGBTIFF shall have the right to equitable relief by way of injunction or otherwise; provided, however, that resorting to such relief shall not be construed as a waiver of any other rights or remedies the SALGBTIFF may have for damages.
