Animation
Animation historian, Howard Beckerman says "Animation is a compact medium; its strength is its conciseness. It's like a fruitcake, embracing many wonderful things in one tight space, and, like a fruitcake, it can be very nutty."

MISSION & OBJECTIVE
Animation Block Party 2014 is now open for submissions.

This summer will mark the 11th annual Animation Block Party film festival. We are dedicated to exhibiting the world's best independent, professional and student animation.

All genres and themes of animation are welcome.

ABP's fest jury honors ten special award categories, ranging from best in show to music video, experimental film, computer animation, etc.

2014 prizes will include animation software, art supplies, production grant for best student film etc. Please check animationblock.com for prize details.

Animation Block Party 2014 will run from July 24-July 27 in Brooklyn.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
Animation Block Party was attended by over 4500 fans, filmmakers, industry executives and distributors in 2013, receiving press in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Gotham Magazine, Village Voice, Time Out NY, Art Info, Brooklyn Based, Flavorpill, Daily News etc.

Indiewire says, "The coolest (and arguably one of the best) animation festivals in the United States is Brooklyn's Animation Block Party."

GENERAL RULES
Basic Rules of Submission:

ALL animation films must be in the time range of 30 seconds to 30 minutes. All genres are welcome, but animation only.

Please follow all rules regarding ABP submission via Withoutabox entry page. You may submit more than one film, but please submit a separate entry for each film you submit.

What to send us and what we'll do with your movie:

Submission preference is HD 1920 x 1080 QuickTime in H.264 or Apple ProRes compression.

Please send QuickTime via FTP site like wetransfer.com to:

abp2014@animationblock.com

If mailing a DVD or CD, please see address at bottom of page.

Please do not send anything in PAL. DVD's that play universally (all regions) are fine as well, but NTSC works best for us.

Please be sure to label submission with film title and animator contact information. If submitting more than one short, you must fill out a separate entry form for that film and pay an additional submission fee.

Do not send us your only copy of your animation. Any materials you send us will not be returned. You will receive a confirmation of your received media through the WAB portal once it has been processed in our system.

All works will be transferred to a digital stream for the festival.
